This position is responsible for the development and management of the Marketing & Communication strategy for Fairmont Winnipeg. This person will be responsible for driving awareness to the Fairmont Winnipeg, the hotel's Catering & Outlet Food & Beverage operations and for Marketing, Public Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Social Media and partnerships
What You Will Be Doing
- Create and curate content (written and visual) that will advocate the brand, help increase sales and raise brand awareness.
- Oversee the creative development and production of hotels marketing/PR material and promotional activities (images, texts, descriptions, pitches, social media content).
- Develop a comprehensive content strategy that is aligned with Fairmont's target customers and focused on driving awareness, conversion and revenue for the hotel, food & beverage and destination.
- Manage all activity within the marketing and PR department, ensuring all service standards are followed
- Execute marketing plans and programs in conjunction with the Sales and Food & Beverage departments to ensure profit growth
- Research, analyze and monitor financial, technological, and demographic factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on
- Plan and oversee the hotels advertising and promotion activities, including print, electronic, and direct mail
- Report monthly on ROI of marketing initiatives with recommendations for tactical changes to improve on investments
- Manage brand image and communications through all communications platforms, both internal & external
- Be the social media expert, implementing best practices, staying on top of industry trends, keeping apprised of updates and changes in the social space, including new social media channels. Familiar with monitoring platforms such as Revinate
- Contribute to initiatives within the hotel that drive community relationships and profile
- Monitor industry trends (with a focus on Food & Beverage) and make recommendations for strategic growth and change
- Lead and management of all social media platforms including content development, campaigns, content marketing, etc.
- Proactively identify opportunities to grow the hotel's social media channels
- Develop, review and post social media content/assets including creative conceptualization, social video concepts and content calendar copywriting
- Work closely with the regional internet marketing team to deliver innovative and creative on-line campaigns
- Initiate and implement creative ideas to market the hotel Food & Beverage offerings
- Collaborate with the Food & Beverage team on revenue-generating ideas and be able to follow through on action plans put in place to market these initiatives.
- Drive community engagement through multiple marketing channels including social media
- Communicate with outside advertising agencies on ongoing campaigns
- Oversee copywriting, design, layout, and the production of promotional materials
- Follow the annual budget and administer that budget in a fiscally responsible manner
- Ability to productively work in an unsupervised environment.
- Develop communication strategies and execute public relations programs within the hotel markets as appropriate
- Write and disseminate press kits, releases, editors' advisories, calendar listings
- Develop and build positive relationships with media and industry partners in key markets
- Develop joint, regional and national promotional opportunities with other hotels
- Develop and maintain all media lists and contact information
- Maintain an up-to-date photo and video library, including a photographic record of all media and special events
- Ensure that advertising and promotional budget is balanced and that projects are prioritized based on the available resources
- Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs
Your Experience And Skills Include
- Minimum 3 years of Marketing experience required
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in marketing and/or communications and/or public relations.
- Strong computer literacy (PowerPoint, Excel, InDesign)
- Ability to understand and interpret financial data
- Passionate user of social media and digital technologies: knowledge of social media best practices (hashtags, tracked links etc.)
- Detail-oriented: keen eye for proof reading
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
- Passionate about hospitality and food & beverage
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Ability to work flexible hours and days
