Position Purpose and Impact

Cargill's Agricultural Supply Chain

  • North America (CASC NA) connects agricultural producers to food, feed and industrial customers through a seamless supply chain. We help our customers compete in the global market and efficiently deliver products from origins to destinations through our marketing, sourcing, originating, storing, trading, consulting and processing of grain, oilseeds and crop inputs products and solutions. CASC NA business reaches across Canada, United States & Mexico with an expansive asset footprint including over 200 grain elevators, export/import facilities, oilseed crush plants, biodiesel facilities, and farm service centers.

Reporting to the Regional Grain Marketing Leader, you are part of a grain consulting team focused on helping our Grain Advisory Service clients make better grain marketing decisions while adding value to Cargill's core business. You will be primarily accountable for acquiring new prospect clients as well as delivering the face to face elements of our grain marketing services and engaging with the broader Grain Advisory Services Team. By identifying opportunities with our clients and uncovering the client's needs, you will proactively float new ideas and grain marketing strategies while providing education around possible solutions that can capture the market's opportunities for our clients. In this role you will work closely with their Internal Grain Marketing Advisor team member and provide secondary support for market updates, contract execution and individual client specific strategies. As part of the Farm Service Group team you will work closely with the account and grain reps. Grain Advisory Services will differentiate Cargill from our competitors, leading to stronger business relationships with our clients, and in turn, result in incremental sales and margin opportunities for Cargill.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

60% Deliver comprehensive grain marketing services to help farm customers market their grain by

  • Using the core product deliverables such as the FarmMaximizer to better understand the client's account
  • Executing core product deliverables such as market reports and risk management tools
  • Analyzing individual farm cash flow and contribution margin data

20% Selling Grain Advisory Services (GAS) to farm customers by

  • Working with the Sales Representatives and location teams to identify, prospect and close new GMA clients
  • Executing the customer focus fundamentals and best practices as established by Cargill

20% Communicate proactively with the GAS and Sales teams by

  • Keeping the team informed of services that are being provided and new sales opportunities that arise
  • Playing a key role working with the FSG team on grain related activities

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum required
  • Specialized knowledge of grain marketing and risk management
  • Good working knowledge of grain futures, options and markets
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Strong sales skills and aptitude
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Good knowledge of the Canadian grain industry, agricultural production and farm management
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Possess a valid Canadian Driver's License
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Hiring Manager Preferred

  • Related post-secondary education or training
  • 5+ Years of related work experience in the Canadian Ag industry
  • Comprehension of Cargill's Risk Management Tools
  • Consulting experience
