$58,237.00 per annum

SUMMARY:

TCET is looking for a Web & Graphic Designer/Illustrator for the National LINC Online Curriculum and Online PBLA Project. Reporting to the eLearning Development Team Coordinator, the Web & Graphic Designer/Illustrator will be responsible for designing and creating graphic assets and standards.

Over five years, this project will develop Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) online curriculum for Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 3 to 5 across all skill areas (L/S/R/W). The project will contribute to building the infrastructure to support LINC service providers across Canada in the delivery of efficient and effective online language training. The project aims to optimize the use of public funds, enable LINC instructors across Canada to use a PBLA supported, ready-made solution for their online or blended training programs, facilitate use of avenue.ca for distance language education and ultimately provide newcomers with the official language skills needed to achieve their integration goals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in project planning activities and ongoing project meetings
  • Participate in defining technical requirements and functional specifications and make recommendations on best media and technology to meet needs
  • In collaboration with the eLearning development team, design and create graphic assets, including interfaces and interactive elements
  • Determine and document design standards, including layout, colour, typography, image and text placement, illustration and photo usage, etc.
  • Assist in the design and development of storyboards and templates
  • Assist in the design of project related templates, reports and outreach materials
  • Work closely with the eLearning Moodle Course Developer, content writers and other development partners to establish processes and procedures to streamline content development
  • Communicate effectively with the development team to anticipate and troubleshoot issues as well as bring ideas forward
  • Adhere to version control and file management best practices
  • Adhere to quality control and development standards
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews
  • Participate in training as needed
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post Secondary degree, preferably in Graphic Design with a focus on online design and multimedia development
  • 4+ years experience in design or digital media production, at least one of those years in an area related to learning & development (L&D)
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, multimedia production, HTML and CSS
  • Proficient in MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Application of UX/UI principles and accessibility standards as they apply to web and graphic design
  • Experience with storyboarding
  • Excellent attention to visual composition, detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to respect diversity and work collaboratively with individuals of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds
  • Illustration and character design experience an asset
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles an asset
  • eLearning development experience an asset
  • Not-for-profit or settlement sector experience an asset
