YOUR ROLE:
Saab Canada, Inc. is seeking a Communications Manager to deliver senior level communication support to the sales & marketing organization both globally and to several markets across the world. The role is based in our Ottawa office and the successful candidate will work in close cooperation with the Communications Department of Business Area Aeronautics and Group Corporate functions such as Press, Editorial and Brand based in Sweden.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Manage, develop and execute internal and external communication projects in line with policies and guidelines established by Saab Group Communications
- Manage and lead the complete communication process (strategy planning to publishing of content) specifically as it relates to Saab's ongoing efforts for Canada's Future Fighter Capability Program
- Design and develop communication strategies and monitor yearly plans and budgets
- Perform communication activities with specialized focus on product communication or localized market communication, including advertising campaigns and other promotional activities
- Co-ordinate communication activities globally in collaboration with regional / global teams to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging and delivery
- Drive maximum efficiency with an integrated communication effect approach allocating resources (external supplies / PR- agencies / internal resources)
- Monitor and develop analytical reports to optimize communications tactics and strategy
- Maintain all local communication channels
- Drive and manage digital engagement strategies, including social media and mainstream outreach
- Oversee the management of Canadian based events and exhibitions
- Develop and maintain relationships with any local PR agencies engaged by the company
- Measure and analyze PR program results; and campaign ROI
- Media relations including media liaison, media monitoring, writing materials for the media such as press releases, fact sheets, announcements and securing earned media
YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or Public Relations or related discipline
- 5+ years' relevant work experience in marketing, corporate communications, journalism and public relations
- Practical communications experience in defence or aerospace industry is an asset
- Demonstrated experience in strategic communications, reputation and PR management, internal and media relations, stakeholder relations and advertising in a multinational organization
- Experience in defining and procuring external services such as PR agencies and suppliers
- Experience working with government officials is an asset
- Experience working in a multicultural, international corporate communications context is required
Required Skills:
- Must have strong knowledge and the ability to research the market's communicative conditions in line with the local culture
- Must be a result oriented, flexible team-player with a service mindset and solution driven approach
- Exceptional writing skills in creating corporate communications, executive speeches, presentations and news releases
- Exceptional digital communication skills including preparing text and visual content for web and social media platforms
- Excellent interpersonal skills including managing cross functional communications
- Bilingual (English & French) is preferred
- Attention to detail and conscientious
- Excellent computer skills with superior knowledge in Microsoft Office programs
- Must have project planning, and excellent communication skills both verbal & written
- Willingness to travel as required
- Willingness to work flexible hours, especially during time sensitive situations
