Infrastructure Ontario (IO), an Ontario crown corporation, provides a wide range of services to support the Ontario government's initiative to modernize and maximize the value of public infrastructure and realty. The communications team at IO plays a pivotal role in not only promoting the organization's work but also directly supporting it by fostering community awareness and support, advising clients and contractors on communication strategies and execution, and contributing to the overall corporate communications of a dynamic and complex organization.

Reporting to the EVP of Corporate Services, the VP Communications will be responsible for the communications team's many responsibilities, including:

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead a diverse Communications team dedicated to promoting and safeguarding the corporate reputation of Infrastructure Ontario as a premier employer and exemplar of excellence in project delivery on behalf of the Government of Ontario.
  • Collaborate closely with IO's CEO, EVP, and Executive Management Team to achieve strategic communication and external relations objectives.
  • Manage the Communications team budget, procurements, expenses, and accountability requirements in alignment with delegated authority.
  • Develop and execute an Annual Communications and External Relations Plan, encompassing community engagement and industry stakeholder outreach.
  • Spearhead proactive communications efforts to promote and support high-profile initiatives such as Market Updates and other corporate priorities.
  • Coordinate public speaking engagements, including speeches for the CEO and other executives and senior management.
  • Enhance IO's corporate brand and reputation by crafting and disseminating content across various channels, including the website, intranet, and social media platforms.
  • Oversee relationships with government communications teams and facilitate internal communications initiatives in collaboration with key internal stakeholders.
  • Cultivate corporate partnerships with industry associations to foster an environment of open and timely information exchange.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for major corporate initiatives.
  • Inspire, mentor, and coach members of the communications team, setting high standards for performance goals and professional development plans.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR :

  • Demonstrated expertise as a senior leader within a communications team.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale, complex communications initiatives in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Accountable for developing integrated communications strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Prior experience working within or alongside the Provincial Government.
  • Ability to adapt communication project plans to changing priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders, including senior executives, government officials, and community leaders.
  • Experience in issues management and effective media relations.
  • Exceptional planning, organizing, and time management abilities to oversee multiple projects and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Capacity to identify issues, devise solutions, maintain messaging consistency, negotiate with stakeholders and vendors, liaise with the media, and integrate major communications projects seamlessly.

$145,500 - $218,200 a year

We offer a competitive salary range of $$145,500 to $218,200 (M4 level), pay will align with skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
