West Coast Kelp Ltd. is a leader in kelp cultivation and restoration, proudly operating on Vancouver Island in the traditional territories of the nuu?aanu? First Nations. We work closely with Indigenous governments, researchers, and industry partners to implement regenerative kelp farming and restoration initiatives that support both ecological recovery and economic opportunity.

Our mission is to advance Canada's emerging kelp sector by delivering innovative, scalable solutions that drive industry growth and foster high-impact collaborations. Since 2023, we've grown to become the country's largest supplier of high-quality kelp seed, helping lay the foundation for sustainable ocean solutions across British Columbia and beyond.

We're looking for a highly motivated Marketing Lead with a strong desire to contribute to this mission by taking ownership of our marketing from strategy to execution, while playing a key role in driving the growth and success of West Coast Kelp as we expand our impact in the kelp sector.

The Role:

As our first Marketing Lead, you'll serve as West Coast Kelp's one-person marketing department. You'll be responsible for planning and implementing our marketing strategy, creating compelling visual content, and ensuring the world understands the impact of our work. From collecting footage and creating content to digital campaigns and analytics, you'll shape the voice and visibility of our brand.

Key Responsibilities :

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Capture high-quality video/photo content at restoration sites, nurseries, and events
  • Edit and produce short- and long-form videos for web, social, and newsletters
  • Build, maintain and organize our internal media library

Social Media & Digital Strategy

  • Manage and grow WCK's presence on Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Create and schedule posts aligned with our brand and audience
  • Monitor engagement and adapt content based on performance

Marketing Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and roll out WCK's marketing and brand strategy
  • Identify and prioritize key audiences and growth opportunities
  • Contribute to trade show materials, reports, presentations, and grant communications

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track campaign and content performance
  • Create monthly or quarterly marketing impact reports
  • Use insights to continually improve strategy and content

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 3+ years of experience in content creation, visual storytelling, and strategic marketing
  • Proficiency with design and editing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent
  • Experience planning and executing marketing campaigns, with a focus on tracking performance and making data-informed adjustments
  • Familiarity with analytics platforms like Google Analytics, HubSpot, or similar tools
  • A proven track record of meeting or exceeding goals and consistently delivering high-quality work
  • A proactive mindset, thriving in a fast-paced, creative environment where problem-solving and initiative are valued
  • A strong orientation toward performance and outcomes, with comfort working in a KPI-driven environment
