Our client located in Oakville, ON is a national organization seeking a Director of Business Development to join their team. The Business Development Director will be a key player in driving the growth of the producer responsibility organization (PRO) services and compliance business, with a focus on Ontario. Reporting to the Vice President, this role is responsible for developing sales and growth strategies, executing business development plans, and fostering strong relationships with clients and partners.

Responsibilities include developing new areas of the business, contributing to revenue growth, creating business development plans for all regulated programs, managing relationships with industry sectors, setting up and training staff on the use of a CRM system, and networking with industry contacts to gather insights. The Business Development Director will also coach and mentor staff, build sales presentations, share feedback with internal stakeholders, and support the Vice President as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Vice President, accountable for driving growth of producer responsibility organization (PRO) services and compliance business

  • Development of sales and growth strategies, execution of business development and market share plans, and customer engagement to accelerate growth

  • Optimizing growth potential, understanding specific industry characteristics, exceeding/meeting year-over-year growth and profit objectives

  • Developing new areas of business and fostering great relationships with existing customers

  • Contributing to revenue growth and sales results

  • Developing business development plans for regulated programs and materials

  • Achieving objectives of business development plans, meeting/exceeding sales targets, and contributing to strategic and annual operating plans

  • Managing and maintaining relationships across industry sectors, utilizing top notch relationship management skills

  • Setting up and training staff on CRM system and ensuring accuracy and transparency of data

  • Coaching and mentoring business development staff

  • Networking with industry contacts and gathering competitive insights

  • Building sales presentations and elevating profile of our client

  • Sharing feedback on services and processes to ensure continual enhancement of offerings

  • Working with multi-disciplined teams to develop and execute cohesive business plans, reported to senior executives

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience with extensive business development and profitable business growth track record

  • A leader with insight and understanding of sustainability and producer responsibility

  • Fast-paced environment experience with entrepreneurial spirit, ability to deliver results and prioritize activities

  • Strong communication skills to work with internal and external customers effectively

  • Passionate about growing the business and enabling producers to achieve compliance and circular economy goals

  • Ability to convey technical concepts, manage initiatives, solve problems, and deliver initiatives successfully

  • Team-oriented leader with a collaborative approach to build trust and deliver results.
