The Role:

Reporting to the VP, Communications and Marketing, the Specialist, Marketing & Communications at NorthX is responsible for supporting the implementation of the organization's strategic marketing and communications plans and initiatives. The Specialist plays a critical role in advancing NorthX's mission through crafting impactful communications (stories, posts, case studies, etc) about our programs, events, and supported companies, executing engaging events to drive community and fostering strong relationships with partners in BC and beyond.

You love to write - across all mediums and all platforms. From social media posts to media pitches, to owning NorthX's newsletter The Current Climate, presentations, speaking notes, and more. You have a flair for storytelling and for taking complex information and ideas and turning them into messaging that's easy to digest. You are a champion of NorthX's brand and messaging.

You're a marketing communications generalist.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of NorthX's communications strategy and plans to elevate the organization's visibility and role in advancing climate solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align marketing and communications efforts with programmatic goals and community needs.
  • Creation of engaging and impactful content, including the development of NorthX's email marketing and newsletter, social media content, announcements, case studies, and other related marketing material as needed.
  • Writing and messaging for website, corporate presentations, partner kits, speaking notes, media materials, and more.
  • Support of media relations, including drafting of materials, media pitching and interview coordination.
  • Foster positive relationships with various stakeholders, including community partner organizations and portfolio companies, to amplify our impact and reach.
  • Support the execution of various strategic events to showcase our work, engage stakeholders, and advance our mission, including CONVERGE, Web Summit and other sponsored events.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a climate-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in a marketing-communications role.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Organized with strong project management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in digital marketing platforms, design tools, social media, and website. Examples: Envoke, Zoho Campaigns, Canva, and WordPress.
  • Experience in supporting the coordination and execution of successful events is an asset.
  • Experience and deep understanding of the climate/clean tech/energy space is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and leadership skills.
  • Passion for the organization's mission and commitment to making a positive impact.
