BC Place is hiring an Event Manager who will have a positive, proactive attitude with a creative flair to problem solving while working to changing timelines and priorities. You will work with autonomy on various projects and demonstrate excellent time management skills.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in venue events management with knowledge and experience in event management planning and stakeholder engagement. No two days will be same so this role will be varied and give you the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities. As a Manager, you'll be responsible for leading and inspiring your team to excel, maintain high standards, and work cohesively to meet the demands of our dynamic events.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Work with clients to ensure the success of their diverse events within our mandate, policy, regulations and PavCo's best interests. Balancing client/partner expectations with facility standards and contractual obligations.
  • Financial management of events, including participation in quoting and negotiating of provisioning of services through to verifying orders and final invoicing
  • Communicate client/partner requirements internally to department leads. Managing changes and unique requirements.
  • Work with multiple suppliers and department leads to ensure an event's success
  • Manage consecutive and concurrent events and projects, including multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Build and maintain superb relationships with every client/partner through all phases of planning, execution and follow-up: managing event contracts, resolving issues and striving to improve a best-in-class experience.
  • Organize the delivery of world-class events and manage events seamlessly in collaboration with the department leads and broader BC Place and PavCo Team.
  • Actively contribute to a positive team culture and improvement of the organization through participation in team meetings, involvement in special projects and implementing learnings from post-event briefings.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • 5 to 7 years in the Event Management business.
  • Exceptional client and guest services in a deadline driven environment.
  • Experience with building superb relationships with clients/partners through all phases of planning, execution and follow-up.
  • Ability to deliver world-class events, and knowledge of collaboration with various department leads.
  • Assertive, calm, works well under pressure.
  • Flexibility is desired, as working hours may vary depending on the event.
  • Strong organization skills and commercial awareness - sees beyond the obvious and is resourceful in seizing opportunities and solving problems.
  • Leads by example, is a mentor, lives our values and our people's engagement for overall team success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to connect and engage with others to collaboratively plan and execute an event.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain high standards of quality by prioritizing, developing and maintaining systems for organizing work and information. Understands priorities and the need to achieve outcomes. Excellent attention to detail and possesses strong organizational skills.
  • Strong digital acumen and ability to learn new systems and update skills.
  • The salary range for this position is $ 65,032 - 81,290.
  • Offers will be in line with PavCo's internal pay equity and qualified candidate's experience and education.
