About The Role: 

Spellbook is seeking a dynamic talent acquisition specialist to join our rapidly expanding team. This role is perfect for someone passionate about matching exceptional talent with exciting opportunities. As a key player in our company's growth, you will play a pivotal hands-on role in shaping Spellbook's future by sourcing, recruiting and hiring top talent. You will source, interview, and assist in the Full Cycle talent acquisition process, continuing through to successful onboarding. To achieve this, you will need to employ resourceful and creative sourcing mechanisms. Your ultimate goal is to build a qualified talent pool in a timely manner and reduce our time to hire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the recruitment process end-to-end: research salary trends, set compensation, define job requirements, advertise openings, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and negotiate offers.
  • Craft and implement creative recruiting strategies to attract, assess, and onboard qualified candidates.
  • Leverage various platforms for job postings and candidate sourcing, including career pages, job boards, and social networks.
  • Source and contact passive candidates online via LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. 
  • Network with candidates at job fairs and career events 
  • Work closely with hiring managers to understand role requirements deeply and streamline the recruitment process.
  • Screen resumes and job applications, perform pre-interview phone screens and provide a shortlist of high-potential candidates 
  • Update hiring managers on hiring status and update hiring metrics (i.e. number of screened applicants, number of pre-screens conducted, etc.) 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with potential candidates to build a rich talent pipeline.
  • Oversee a positive candidate experience from initial contact to the offer stage.
  • Ensure recruitment practices are compliant with company policies and labour laws.
  • Manage the HRIS to ensure employee records are recorded and current

Who We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of proven work experience as a high-performing recruiter within an agency or in-house with knowledge of hiring for the tech sector. 
  • Experience with various interview formats, including phone screening calls, video and in-person interviews 
  • Knowledge of behavioural-based interviewing techniques and experience developing interview packets and candidate rating matrices 
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willing to be fully hands-on in doing the hard outbound work necessary to find talent
  • Excellent decision-making and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems and resume databases.
  • Experience evaluating candidates for various roles at all levels of the organisation. 
  • A passion for innovation in AI technology 
  • Experience in a high-growth startup environment is desirable.
