COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR - HYBRID POSITION, FLEXIBLE LOCATION IN OR NEAR THE LAURENTIANS, QC.

Established in 2005, 4Korners is a community-based organization. We are dedicated to supporting the well-being of English-speaking residents of the stunning Laurentians region. Our goal is simple: to offer inclusive and empowering services that meet the diverse needs of our English-speaking community, regardless of age or background. Through activities and programs related to health and social services, education, arts and culture, our mission is to strengthen a vibrant Laurentian community where every individual's story contributes to this richly diverse mosaic.

During the past years, 4Korners has undergone an organizational restructure and growth that brought new programs throughout the Laurentian Region. Along with our Head Office and Activity Centre in Deux-Montagnes, we run four satellite offices in the Laurentians with multiple services in many small towns.

With a unique and ambitious mandate covering a large territory, we are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to join our team. 

As a hybrid position, work will be required at the office of assignment, in satellite offices (during key 4Korners events), and virtual.  

OBJECTIVE 

The integrated communications and marketing coordinator is a skilled writer and storyteller who creates engaging and persuasive content across multiple communications tools. The coordinator promotes and highlights the work of 4Korners with members, stakeholders, and partners.   Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Coordinator develops and coordinates internal and external communications for all 4Korners’ programs and services.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational and communication skills, highly resourceful and detail-oriented, and passionate for delivering outstanding results to serve our communities.

RESPONSIBILTIES

Communications – 60% of hours

  • Plan, write, edit, review, and post content tailored for different audiences about 4Korners’ programs and services; ensure all content is aligned with 4Korners branding and messaging; suggest communications opportunities to the team.
  • Promote activities though the creation of flyers, banners, and social media templates.
  • Edit and revise text prepared by colleagues, in both official languages, to ensure consistent messaging and positioning.
  • Support the preparation and dissemination of 4Korners publications such as the Impact Report.
  • Lead content updates and development of the 4Korners website and, with direction from the Executive Director and Director of Operations, ensure website is accurate, regularly updated, and presents a coherent and cohesive vision of 4Korners.
  • In alignment with the overall communications strategy, create engaging content for 4Korners’ social media channels (currently Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Mail Chimp, YouTube) that uses the latest social media approaches and strategies, including but not limited to campaigns, podcasts, videos, graphics, etc.
  • Create and regularly update communications lists (distribution lists, social media initiative lists (national/international holiday list), list of FR / EN media publications, etc.)
  • Coordinate internal communications sent out to the team and support in the onboarding process of new employees to introduce our communication strategy and branding.
  • Coordinate all external communications or press release with local media, municipal bulletins, newsletters, media contractors, advertising representatives.
  • Follow up and use the communication and advertising budget to maximise the return on investment. (ROI)
  • Manage efficiently the promotional items and tools used by the team.

Engagement – 20%

  • With guidance from the Executive Director, drive the execution of the 4Korners Communications Plan 2024-2025, and 4Korners reports.
  • Write engaging communications content, representative of 4Korners (elevator pitch, donor thank you messages, articles, history of 4Korners, and bio-templates on website).
  • Participate in program meetings to assist operations from a communications perspective by collecting information from the programs teams for future comms initiatives.
  • Participate in 4korners activities and engage with community members to understand the impact of our actions and

Brand – 15%

  • Ensure brand assets and templates are organized and up to date.
  • Coordinate 4Korners visuals and graphics, including sourcing and creating images and graphics for newsletters, presentations, promotional material, social channels, and posters.
  • Liaise with external graphic designers as needed to coordinate larger design projects and brand updates.
  • Coordinate all print materials, including business cards, event signage, and promotional materials.
  • Coordinate updates to the 4Korners brand guidelines.

General Administration – 5%

  • Participate in mandatory trainings and team meetings.
  • Ensure that all required reporting and comms materials are submitted by deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with the 4Korners team.
  • Keep track, compile communication statistics, and evaluate their reach.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate from a post-secondary institution in a communications-related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working in communications.
  • Knowledge of media relations and digital media strategies 
  • Working knowledge of design software (e.g., Adobe suit, word press / Elementor and AI tools.) 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS (mandatory)

  • Outstanding communication skills in English (oral and written). Proficiency in French is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in the following: MS Office 365, Google Analytics, Google Ad Grants, Mailchimp; Asana and Airtable (an asset).
  • Open to team collaboration in a remote environment using cloud project management tools and virtual meetings.
  • Autonomy, flexibility, solution-oriented and ability to make decisions.
  • Detailed and organized.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.

Compensation: - $23 - $28 / hr

Hours of Work:  35 hours per week. 

Schedule:  Monday to Friday.  4Korners schedule runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Sporadic activities may occur during evenings and weekends. 

Location: Hybrid. Work will be required at the office of assignment, in satellite offices (during key 4Korners events), and virtual.   Travelling within the Laurentians will be required.
