The Pregnancy Centre (TPC) is a registered charity that provides practical resources and emotional support to people in Waterloo Region who are pregnant or parenting in crisis. We envision a community where needs are met, and families can thrive.

Over the last two years, TPC has experienced rapid growth due to increased immigration, housing scarcity, and inflation. We serve hundreds of families each year impacted by poverty, mental health, and generational trauma, all while pregnant or parenting. A monthly relief package of diapers, formula, and infant clothing is provided along with attachment-based parenting programs, peer mentors and counselling services.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager of Development & Communications will play a vital role in the development and execution of a fundraising strategy to secure and enhance the resources needed to sustain TPC's programs and services and acquire new revenue streams for future growth. This manager will also oversee the marketing and communications strategy, with a passion for advancing the mission of TPC.

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, primarily in-person.

Compensation: Hiring range of $54,000 to $58,000 per year with paid time off and a health spending account.

Accountability: This role reports to the Executive Director.

Supervision: This role supervises the Communications and Event Co-ordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership

  • As a member of the senior management team, work alongside the Executive Director and Client Services Director to advance the mission of TPC.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Communications and Event Co-ordinator.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure a strong case for support and for all TPC programs and services.

Strategic Donor Development

  • Develop, implement, and execute a multi- year fundraising strategy with defined objectives, audiences, and schedules to maximize and diversify revenue.
  • Research and engage with available donation programs and granting opportunities.
  • Develop strategy and plans to build a successful major gift and planned giving programs.
  • Effectively share TPC's mission and program strengths to grow support and build collaborative relationships with donors, churches, and community partners.
  • Continue to utilize and create effective processes in a newly updated CRM for donor management and communications.
  • Provide impactful presentations at churches and to community stakeholders that educate and inspire audiences to engage and advance the mission of TPC.
  • Provide oversight to the Communications and Event Co-ordinator in donor recognition processes.

Fundraising and Revenue Generation

  • Ensures the success of all fundraising campaigns, including but not limited to a major event, a church giving campaign, and a fall donation campaign.
  • Provides leadership and oversight to the Communications and Event Co-ordinator in the planning and execution of all campaigns and event details.
  • Conduct trend analysis to identify new areas of revenue growth including direct and digital marketing, corporate sponsorships, events, campaigns, church partnerships, major gifts, and other initiatives.
  • In collaboration with the Communications and Event Co-ordinator, ensure regular evaluation of fundraising metrics, successes, and growth areas.
  • Oversee the fundraising, donor development, and communications budgets.
  • Remain up to date and informed about CRA tax receipting and donor compliance regulations.

Communications & Marketing

  • Oversee the marketing and communications strategy.
  • Develop strategies to elevate brand awareness and increase donors and partnerships.
  • Ensure a steady stream of engaging, innovative, and relevant content is created that advances the mission and vision of TPC in Waterloo Region.
  • Oversee the content creation for TPC's website, social media, and e-communication platforms.
  • Ensure TPC's brand identity is maintained externally and internally.
  • Oversee the vision and execution of the yearly Annual Report and Christmas Direct Mail projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, or related field is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional written communication and storytelling skills that inspire stakeholders and donors.
  • A creative, innovative, and enthusiastic self-starter who is results driven.
  • Ability to effectively project manage and handle and prioritize multiple, competing priorities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence and trust amongst all stakeholders, acting ethically and responsibly in all interactions.
  • A team player who has a desire to contribute to the overall effectiveness of TPC, its programs, staff, volunteers, and community partners in fulfilling our mission.
  • Interest and experience working from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed lens.
  • As a director of a faith-based charity, the Manager of Development and Communications will regularly engage with and present at local churches. Therefore, this manager must identify with our Christian mission and with our core values of generosity, respect, connection, collaboration, and hope.
  • Valid criminal reference check.

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Able to travel within the Waterloo Region to meet with donors.
  • Able to attend periodic events outside of scheduled work hours.
