What is the Corporate Communications group responsible for?

The global Corporate Communications team's focus is on positioning Franklin Templeton to external audiences, via the media, as a premier global investment management organization with a solid team of investment managers, a comprehensive line of investment solutions and a strong corporate reputation. The team supports Franklin Templeton at the corporate level as well as its specialist investment managers and subsidiary businesses that make up the global firm. The team works with a variety of internal partners, external PR agencies and media contacts as part of its efforts.

What is the Corporate Communications/Public Relations Consultant (Americas) responsible for?

As part of a global team, the Corporate Communications/Public Relations Consultant (Americas) will focus on media and public relations for Canada and Latin America, supporting key priorities set by distribution leadership and the investment teams. Working with the Corporate Communications leaders for the Americas and the global Corporate Communications team, you will contribute to developing and implementing comprehensive PR strategies, including generating story ideas, building relationships with key media, pitching reporters, coordinating media interviews, issues management, and a mix of writing activities including messaging, press releases and Q&As.

PR support will span some or all of the following asset classes or disciplines: equity, fixed income, multi-asset solutions, alternatives, ETFs, high-net-worth, sustainability and digital assets.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Corporate Communications/Public Relations Consultant (Americas)?

The Corporate Communications/Public Relations Consultant (Americas) will interact with reporters, company executives and spokespersons, and our outside PR agency relationships in executing a strong PR strategy.

You will represent the firm with journalists across the spectrum, including traditional print and broadcast outlets, new and emerging media outlets, including those focused more broadly on financial services, personal finance and podcasts.

Day-to-day proactive communications activity will include pitching investment and market insights, new products and partnerships, and other key themes and developments to the press.

Other communications work will include issues management around such topics as market volatility, industry issues, investment team changes and more. You will undertake frequent writing projects to prepare messaging and announcements.

You will help promote key media coverage internally and liaise with the social media team to promote earned media coverage externally.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help you be successful?

Ideal qualifications include a minimum of five years of media relations experience in financial services. Prior experience supporting asset managers and/or a strong network of financial journalist relationships is a plus.

Diploma or degree in Corporate Communications or Public Relations or equivalent work experience.

Proficiency in written French, Spanish and/or Brazilian Portuguese languages is a plus.

You will have a keen eye for what makes a good story and experience translating that into a successful media pitch.

You will be a strong verbal communicator and possess exceptional writing and editing skills, with an attention to accuracy and detail.

You must exhibit excellent judgement and be adept at handling multiple projects simultaneously, setting priorities, and achieving deadlines and objectives.

You must be a strong relationship builder and team player and be able to partner with a diverse set of stakeholders and communicate across various levels of management.
