The Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a critical role in sourcing, attracting, and hiring top talent to support Canadian North's growth and success. They will collaborate closely with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, develop effective recruitment strategies, and ensure a seamless hiring process from start to finish.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must be able to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Support HR initiatives, including the achievement of our strategic plan and delivery of day-to-day HR services;
  • Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract and engage top talent, including direct sourcing, networking, online job boards, social media, job postings, professional networks and employee referrals;
  • Review resumes and assess candidate qualifications to ensure alignment with job requirements and company culture;
  • Conduct interviews and assessments to evaluate candidate skills, experience, and fit for specific roles;
  • Work with hiring managers to extend job offers to selected candidates and negotiate compensation and employment terms as needed, in alignment with company policies and collective agreements;
  • Collaborate with HR and hiring managers to facilitate a smooth on-boarding process for new hires, including preparing offer letters, coordinating reference checks, and providing pre-employment information;
  • Participate and present at new employee on-boarding sessions;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of candidate interactions, recruitment activities, and hiring metrics using our Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other recruitment tools;
  • Support employer branding initiatives to enhance our company's reputation as an employer of choice, including participation in recruitment events and career fairs and develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations and educational institutions;
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging recruitment technologies, and recommend process improvements and enhancements to optimize our recruitment efforts;
  • Support various HR related projects as required; and
  • Other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:

  • Education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience);
  • Proven experience as a Talent Acquisition Specialist or similar role, preferably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Strong knowledge of recruitment best practices, sourcing techniques, and candidate assessment methods;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with hiring managers and candidates;
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proficiency in applicant tracking systems (ATS), HRIS, and other recruitment tools/software;
  • Committed to continuous improvement and display a high level of initiative, creativity and enthusiasm;
  • Interest to travel across Canada including the Communities we serve;
  • Passion for talent acquisition and a commitment to delivering an exceptional candidate experience;
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset; and
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
