DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY, MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

As one of the largest charitable organizations in the city, the YMCA impacts hundreds of individuals and families daily. We are Saskatoon's largest child care provider and second largest Before and After School Care provider. We also operate two Family Resource Centres with a third opening in Warman/Martensville. NATURE & SCOPE

The YMCA of Saskatoon is looking to revamp and refocus our Philanthropy, Marketing & Communications by hiring a strong leader with a bold vision and ability to execute in a dynamic and changing work environment. The Y is a multifaceted organization; this position will require the ability to multitask and complete multiple deliverables with competing timelines and tight budgets. This role will focus on sharing the Y story and the impact we make in the community. Crucial to this work will be developing communication channels that engage, inspire and educate members, parents, donors, corporate partners, key stakeholders, internal staff and volunteers. As a Director, you will develop your department to meet the growing needs and opportunities as the Y continues to expand its offerings in the community. Reporting to the CEO of the YMCA of Saskatoon, this position will work collaboratively to deliver the strategic goals and mission of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively and build internal relationships and processes to create a strong case for support.
  • Plan, execute, evaluate and report on all aspects of the YMCA's fundraising programs that includes major gifts, grants, sponsorships, fundraising campaigns and events, planned and legacy giving and donor stewardship.
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors.
  • Accountable for establishing annual fundraising goals and other key metrics in consultation with the CEO.
  • Manage and maintain appropriate information related to donors, community partners and prospects using DonorPerfect database software.
  • Provide leadership in the development, planning, and optimization of special events.
  • Identify, write and secure grants with support from other department leaders.
  • Ensures all financial reporting for the Philanthropy Department complies with YMCA policies and procedures, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and all other regulatory bodies.
  • Manages the development and execution of an innovative marketing strategy to continue to position the YMCA as a community leader, and a leading charity.
  • Responsible for web content and creation of branded content in key areas of the Association's website and social media outlets.
  • Works with a team to deploy and maintain YMCA digital tools including YMCA website, mobile applications, SEO, Google Grants, Google paid ads and maximizing digital opportunities through Association-wide CRM.
  • Develops and manages the annual department budget, manages expenses and variances.
  • Identifies local advertising and promotional opportunities, negotiating purchase contracts, creating, and deploying advertising and promotional assets-develops positive relationships with local media.
  • Develop communication tools such as e-newsletters and videos.
  • Ensures consistency of brand, voice, and messaging across the Association, including acting as Association Brand Lead for Shine On implementation.
  • Supervises the department staff and sub-contractors/contracts to ensure deadlines and deliverables are on brand, on time and on budget.
  • Supports the design and delivery of the Association Annual Report, Impact Reports, Charitable Cases, and Association special events.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary degree or certification in a fundraising, communications, marketing public relations or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in fund development and delivery of community and special events fundraising and/or experience developing and executing a marketing and communications plan.
  • Experience in the design and execution of annual fundraising campaigns.
  • Ability to approach a marketing or communications challenge strategically, ensuring each implementation meets the needs of the project but also the wider Association's developed strategy.
  • Experience in design, writing, storytelling, and editing.
  • Experience in a leadership role including working with a Board of Directors.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, shows initiative and able to work well and provide positive leadership in a busy team environment.
  • Demonstrated competence and creativity in managing the delivery of print, digital and other marketing executions of various types and complexities.
  • Driver's license and reliable vehicle
