Associate Director, Marketing and Communications

At the Responsible Gambling Council we believe that gambling should not cause harm to people or the communities in which they live. We exist to ensure that gambling safeguards are in place to promote the wellbeing of all those we serve. Through our work with people, operators, regulators, researchers, government, and community stakeholders we seek to influence positive change and advance responsible gambling and harm minimization efforts.  

The Associate Director, Marketing and Communications plays a pivotal role in driving our brand and prevention education efforts forward across the globe. Reporting to the VP, Marketing and Communications, the Associate Director will lead all marketing and communication efforts across the organization (both B2C and B2B), with a primary focus on social marketing efforts. This role will be accountable for leading a team to develop and implement a marketing plan focused on sports betting and online gambling prevention efforts. As the Associate Director, you will work with RGC's advertising agency partners and lead the process from research and planning to execution and analysis. As a key member of the organization, this individual will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and be a strong team leader who exemplifies our mission, vision and values.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Marketing/Health Promotion

  • Collaborate with cross functional team to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies and campaigns that support prevention education goals while ensuring that targets are set, monitored, and achieved.
  • Oversee all aspects of marketing campaigns, from concept through execution, spanning all marketing channels (as appropriate), including traditional, digital, and event-based marketing.
  • Develop and manage budget and internal resources to execute programs on time, and on budget.
  • Identify and oversee research to better understand target audiences and identify prevention needs and consumer trends that are equitable and inclusive.
  • Manage relationships and create programs with stakeholders including operators, sports leagues, and universities/colleges.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends and research and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them.

Digital Strategy

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and optimization of all digital marketing campaigns, including paid advertising on Google, Meta and other platforms, email marketing, social media marketing, display advertising, and content marketing.
  • Work with internal/external stakeholders to identify opportunities for new content for website and social channels.

CRM Strategy

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop strategies and execute programs to support business development efforts.
  • Help execute the organization’s CRM Strategy including database updates, email creation, deployments and reporting.

Conferences/Sponsorship

  • Act as key member of RGC Discovery Conference team to develop and execute marketing strategy for a world-class global conference including sponsorship, promotion, and on-site experience.
  • Responsible for leading execution of sponsorships and trade show booths at industry conferences and community events (developing booth experience, marketing materials etc). 

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead, performance manage, and develop a team of marketing professionals.
  • Manage external marketing relationships, partnerships, and agencies.
  • Work closely with the VP Marketing and Communications, Evaluation and Programs Teams and CFO to evaluate and report on marketing KPIs.
  • Work with internal teams and graphics resources to ensure all communications are on brand.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or related field
  • Post secondary degree in marketing, public health or related field required
  • Experience managing advertising agency relationships and workstreams.
  • Experience writing briefs that result in on-brand, high quality work from creative and PR agencies
  • Proven ability to plan, develop, and execute on marketing strategies within budget to meet quarterly goals
  • Current knowledge and experience with digital marketing strategies and tools including SEO, SEM, website management, e-mail marketing, digital advertising, social media content development
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, multi-tasking and prioritizing, problem solving skills and communication skills
  • Excellent communicator with strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Highly proficient in the use of various social/digital media channels (including LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook) and website content management systems
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Analytics, and MailChimp
  • Strong self-directed initiative, resourcefulness, and drive for innovation.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to grasp developing situations quickly and to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience working from an equity, diversity and inclusion framework    in the workplace with understanding of strategies to implement all three in a professional environment

The salary range for this role is $94,600 - $118,300 annually, commensurate with skills and experience.
