Ballard's Commercial team has an opening for an enthusiastic and experienced Inside Sales Specialist (K2). Reporting to the Manager, Proposals & Inside sales, this role will primarily focus on pre-sales activities, including:

  • The management of the lead's qualification process and initial customer engagement phase
  • Proposal and quotation responses to customer inquiries

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own and optimize the company lead management process from initial inquiry to lead qualification using CRM platforms
  • Work in close alignment with Product Line Management, Sales, and Marketing teams to nurture leads, becoming an expert on the customer personae that drive our different markets forward
  • Provide regular reports on lead generation and qualification
  • Assess market and geography alignment, identify customer requirements, determine whether products can meet customer requirements, and communicate requirements internally
  • Drive customer interaction from initial contact to handover to the Sales team
  • Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to support the Commercial team in winning strategic projects
  • Provide report and feedback to the Marketing team to improve lead acquisition campaigns
  • Assist the Proposal Manager in developing and implementing responses to client requests for proposals and quotations
  • Coordinate commercial proposal review and approvals with internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance to Ballard internal contract review process
  • Track and report on outstanding commercial proposals
  • Capture customer requirements and communicate to sales order administrator

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5 years of work experience, including at least 3 years of inside sales experience and/or proposal management experience, within a technical sales environment
  • Post-secondary degree; a Business or Engineering degree, or related technical experience is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal & communications skills
  • Advanced English writing, editing and proofreading skills; familiarity with technical writing, with an eye towards sales messaging, themes, proposal aesthetics, and content
  • Strong leadership qualities; able to establish and communicate a plan, help drive the proposal process, and coordinate with diverse teams, both in-person and remotely
  • Well organized, process-driven, able to manage multiple tasks concurrently and ability to prioritize, execute and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing data, providing interpretation, and recommending improvement and standardization of business processes
  • Experience with CRM (Salesforce.com) systems is an asset
