OVERVIEW

As biodiversity loss and climate impact continue to be on top of mind, many Canadians are seeking ways to engage with initiatives to better their own communities, and find ways to contribute back to nature for measurable impact. The Senior Manager, Community Action will develop, expand, and mobilize community networks to take action in support of WWF-Canada's conservation goals.

This role will lead the realization of hands-on measurable restoration and regeneration actions by working closely with staff, as well as externally with partners, communities, businesses, governments, and individuals, among others, to reverse wildlife loss, increase biodiversity, and support natural carbon solutions to fight climate change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop strategy and associated goals for community action, identifying opportunities, facilitating execution, and seeking solutions to challenges
  • Work with internal departments to develop specific community actions for impact appropriate for various groups, including corporate partners, supporters, etc. and coordinate communicating these actions to our networks
  • Work with external parties, such as community organizations, companies, government bodies and other organizations, to collectively achieve unified conservation goals
  • Develop and maintain networks for execution of actions and measurement of impact
  • As project lead, create and manage detailed project timelines, scope, and budget, ensuring timely execution
  • Manage and develop direct reports who are responsible for related programs that contribute to community action
  • Provide feedback and insight on how to monitor and measure community actions and statistics
  • Maintain an overview of the community action program's progress through continuous monitoring and evaluation, bringing forward creativity and solutions to challenges in a timely and constructive manner
  • Identify opportunities for departmental or program improvements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Related post-secondary degree, or equivalent experience
  • At least 4 years of related experience in the area of program development or management
  • At least 2 years of management experience
  • Knowledgeable about Canadian conservation issues and concerns
  • Experience in program evaluation
  • Exposure to public relations, communications, government partnerships, or creating external partnership initiatives
  • Strongly supports and clearly articulates benefits to communities as a driver of community action
  • Demonstrated experience in cultivating, managing, and growing partnerships and external networks
  • Proven exceptional ability to work collaboratively with others on program deliverables
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking capabilities coupled with an outcome, delivery-oriented approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities, demonstrate a positive attitude, troubleshoot and problem solve independently using sound judgement
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with proven experience in managing and mentoring staff
  • Bilingual in French or an Indigenous language an asset
  • Be passionately committed to the mission and goals of WWF-Canada and to its success in achieving them
