We are looking for a Managing Editor, Communications to lead and oversee the development and implementation of overall internal communications for ENMAX, ensuring integration with broader communication and corporate strategies. The Managing Editor is an artistic storyteller who has editorial oversight for ENMAX's internal digital properties such as our newsletter, intranet and email announcements. Reporting to the Manager, Brand & Experiential Marketing, the Managing Editor will work closely with ENMAX's Community, Communications & Brand team members who are responsible for developing corporate messaging.
Major Responsibilities :
Serves as managing editor (p lans, edits and writes) content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as the employee intranet, weekly newsletter and regular employee email bulletins.
Develops, implements and maintains an integrated internal employee communications project plan and calendar, as well as holding accountability for overall internal communications content sustainment inclusive of overseeing ENMAX's internal intranet and other communication platforms and technologies.
Manages and supports a small, yet nimble team of communications professionals including leadership of junior communications partners.
Accountability for the overall administration of ENMAX's communications team.
Responsible for ensuring that all internal communications digital content conforms to the ENMAX style guide and brand standards.
Maintains consistent quality for submitted news and announcements, utilizing superior editing skills and advanced knowledge of English grammar and Canadian Press (CP) style.
Develops and dispatches story ideas, conducts research and interviews, assesses readership and content data, and writes and edits content that supports corporate objectives while using sound judgment to prioritize content submissions.
Tracks key performance metrics; participates in ongoing planning to enhance digital communications vehicles and increase employee engagement.
Helps develop an ongoing metrics scorecard for the output of internal communications vehicles.
Education Required:
A university degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism or equivalent industry experience
A minimum of five years diverse writing/editing experience, including at least three years working directly with a digital channel
Qualifications & Experience :
A solid understanding of the strategic deployment of digital properties, with experience advising on the developing and implementation of content publishing
Extensive writing/editing experience in a marketing, internal communications or journalism environment with a focus on the online environment
Experience managing the budget for a small group of communications partners
Knowledge of emerging trends in internal and digital communications as well as social media
Understanding of internal communications measurement
Intermediate skills in Adobe Creative Cloud software, specifically Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
HTML coding knowledge, experience with content management systems (i.e. Igloo Software) and email software (i.e. Bananatag)
Knowledge of the utility industry is an asset
