Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Primary Health Care, the Senior Communications Advisor is a provincial leadership role accountable for communications planning, change management, implementation and capacity building for the provincial Primary Health Care (PHC) program and Primary Health Care Integration Network (PHCIN).


The Senior Communications Advisor position is responsible for developing and maintaining complex partner relationships for the purpose of collaborating on numerous short- and long-term initiatives that are high profile and multifaceted. Working independently with minimal guidance, the Senior Communications Advisor will directly supervise PHC staff and lead large functional teams. The Senior Communications Advisor also contributes to and supports program and PHCIN strategic direction as set out by program leadership and works to ensure Alberta Health Services values, goals and principles are implemented and integrated within all communications plans and tactics. As a key member of the program leadership team, the Sr. Communications Advisor applies expertise to identify and execute communications strategies at zone and provincial levels to contribute to the achievement of integrated primary healthcare service delivery.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of an undergraduate degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field. 3-5 years' experience in a team leadership role. Minimum of eight years relevant experience working in communications or similar field. Excellent computer skills including expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required. Knowledge of design program including Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign and Illustrator preferred. A minimum of eight years of relevant experience with progressive responsibility in area of expertise in a related environment. Demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development. Experience in communications planning and implementation. Experience in a healthcare organization preferred. Knowledge of best practice related to communications, engagement, public relations, media relations and social movements. Demonstrated abilities in strategic communications planning. Strong writing and editing skills and experience creating key messages, memos and other communications materials. Additional Required Qualifications :
