Job Description

Title: Web & Digital Marketing Officer

Department : External Relations, Marketing, and Communication

Working with the department team and stakeholders throughout the College, the Web & Digital Marketing Officer plays a key role in developing, planning, and executing the web and digital communication and marketing strategies of the department and the College.

The Web & Digital Marketing Officer is responsible for implementing and delivering the tactics and tasks within the web and digital communication and marketing plans and initiatives. This position is also responsible for active engagement with the NLC Connect app, including software tasks, orientations, presentations, and marketing plans. The position supports the development, coordination, and execution of various measurement and evaluation reports, as well as conducts various research for digital and web reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Marketing Officer to implement web/digital plans and proposals that direct the web/digital communication and marketing initiatives
  • Develops and executes strategies for web content and engagement (including written/editorial, photographic, video, and multimedia)
  • Coordinates the execution of web projects and provides recommendations and guidance
  • Provides support and recommendations for digital, web, and social media presence
  • Works with the team in updating and monitoring social media accounts and campaigns using Google Analytics
  • Implements day-to-day execution of website updates, addition of new pages, and other web project management tasks
  • Develops and maintains efficient web processes and manages website feedback
  • Provides staff training/orientation on the content management system, website governance, policies, and best practices
  • Monitors site analytics, conducts ongoing research, helps advise on strategy, and implements changes
  • Supports monitoring and measuring outcomes of web/digital communication efforts to ensure targets are being met, makes recommendations for improvement, and implements approved adjustments
  • Coordinates, writes, and updates monthly analytics reports, as well as campaign/project-specific measurement and evaluation reports
  • Writes and edits web and digital content as required, including various communication projects, processes, newsletters, and social media posts
  • Develops, executes, and enforces web editorial standards and a web style guide
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of web content
  • Prepares OnCourse podcast audio files for uploading to sites
  • Assists with special events as required
  • Other duties as required.


  • Diploma in Marketing/Communication, Journalism/Writing, Computer Sciences or in a related field
  • Minimum two years of web content management experience
  • Experience in a communication/marketing environment with emphasis on web/digital strategy and engagement
  • Writing experience in communication and multimedia (web, print, advertising, email, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience using blogging, direct email, and social media platforms
  • Experience with enterprise-level content management systems and development platforms
  • Experience with the web design and development process (project-based experience is an asset)
  • Fluent in usability best practices with experience in online communication planning including: website optimization, pay-per-click and banner advertising, mobile web and social media
  • Knowledge in web analytics, web search, SEO, web metrics planning and testing, optimizing online marketing campaigns
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML and CSS (XHTML, XML are all assets)
  • Proficiency/familiarity with Forms, Databases, Google Apps, Photoshop / Adobe Creative Suite, audio and video editing is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organization skills
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in the post-secondary and web sectors
  • A valid class 5 driver's license is required; some travel is required.
