The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Marketing and Communications team with the management and implementation of the school's tactical social media initiatives and campaigns. Reporting to the Associate Director, Digital Marketing & User Experience, the Coordinator will work alongside the Social Media Specialist to consistently deliver an experience that clearly represents and supports the school's culture, values and brand in a highly engaging and relevant manner.
Reports to the Associate Director, Digital Marketing & User Experience.
Works with Social Media Specialist and other team members within UBC Sauder Marketing and Communications department.
Works closely with the Associate Director and Social Media Specialist on the implementation and coordination of the UBC Sauder's social media strategy, initiatives and campaigns.
Creates engaging, informative, attractive and relevant content in text, image, and video format.
Facilitates online conversations with users and responds to any questions and relevant comments.
Reports on online feedback and reviews from community members on a monthly basis.
Maintains the school's social media calendar in coordination with marketing and communications colleagues with consideration for both user engagement metrics and web traffic.
Uses social media insights and data to make recommendations on new methods to attract prospective students and to engage with existing community members (students, alumni, etc.).
Suggests ways to optimize content.
Measures and reports on channel success.
Stays on top of the current best practices and technologies and makes recommendations for each social media platform.
Uses social media marketing tools to improve efficiency and manages all accounts effectively.
Establishes partnerships with various stakeholders on campus, at events, and in the community.
Undertakes other outreach projects in keeping with the mandate of the position and performs other related duties as required.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Decision-making is based on a thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Marketing and Communications unit. The role exercises initiative and judgment in establishing priorities and carrying tasks through to completion, and must demonstrate tact and discretion.
The position has dealings with staff, faculty, and students within the school, as well as numerous external audiences. Error in the performance of duties or in the exercise of discretion may result in significant damage to the school's reputation.
Reports to the Associate Director, Digital Marketing & UX and works with guidance from the Social Media Specialist.
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum four years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have knowledge or experience with social media tools (content management tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social or similar, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram).
Proficiency with MS Office and/or G Suite application.
Proficiency with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Creative, resourceful and highly organized; able to meet short deadlines.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
