Design and create graphics for promotions, store literature, and signage, including computer generated and hand drawn flyers, shelf signs, chalkboards, and the store calendar.

Will do the following principle duties and responsibilities:

  • Overall
  • Follows and upholds Whole Foods Market Brand Standards; supports global/regional creative and marketing directives
  • Works with Teams and Store Leadership to develop, produce and implement marketing materials, merchandising solutions and price and item signage
  • Communicates and works with Team Members and Store Leadership to support their signage needs, providing excellent customer service and process education as necessary
  • Complies with all applicable health and safety codes
  • Arrives to workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work, for all scheduled shifts
  • Performs other duties associated with their job function as assigned by Store Leadership and Regional/Global Marketing/Design Team
Retail Execution & Visual Display Standards ~ 50%
  • Determines store strategy/placement for executing marketing materials including ordering/tracking/receiving global and regional kits and printing in-store materials
  • Collaborates with store team leadership to ensure marketing collateral materials are properly displayed including hanging of posters, banners, trim kits and other materials
  • Maintains WFM visual display standards as defined by Regional/Global marketing and leadership teams
  • Works with teams and store leadership to establish overall visual consistency, accuracy and execution of product price and item signs and marketing collateral materials, through store walks/audits and trainings
  • Upholds WFM Global standards for all retail signage
Chalkboards, Art & Custom Design ~ 30%
  • Creates hand-drawn artwork on chalkboards or materials to highlight and enhance store sales, programs or events
  • Prioritizes sale chalks to ensure relevant ROI giving special consideration to those programs that drive store sales
Administration & Team Sign Support ~ 20%
  • Trains store team members on laminating and cutting as needed
  • Finishes (via printing, cutting, and/or laminating) product price signage for teams as needed
  • Organizes the Store Graphic Artist workload for the week, and plans for future
  • Trains, mentors and supports additional Store Graphic Artist in home store or throughout the region as needed
  • Manages ordering, inventorying and budget for art/office supplies
  • Attends store operations and merchandising meetings, and regional conference calls and meetings
  • Maintains a clean and organized operating environment

Must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience and/or a degree in fine arts or graphic design required
  • Self-directed and organized, with ability to organize and manage workload; creative problem-solver
  • Passion for collaborating in a team environment with Team Members, Team Leaders and Store Team Leadership to achieve store, regional and global design goals
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Proficient using Mac platform; experience using Adobe Creative Suite (emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator); experience using Microsoft Office (emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Familiarity with our brand, our customers and their lifestyles, and current art and food trends strongly preferred
  • Retail experience strongly preferred
  • 40 hour availability; able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • Occasional travel to other stores to train and train others, and help open new stores required

Physical working conditions:

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • In an 8 hour work day: standing/walking 1-4 hours, sitting 6-8 hours
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing & pulling
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting & reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures: <32ºF (freezing), 32-40ºF (refrigerators), >90ºF
