Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to join the Corporate Public Affairs team in a fast-paced, challenging, and exciting work environment. The ideal candidate for this position will have 5 years' of experience in a similar communications role. The Senior Communications Officer role is instrumental in executing strong communications plans and strategies that support the unit's goals. This position drives efforts to promote the Canadian egg farming industry, Egg Farmers of Canada and Canadian eggs, and builds and applies knowledge and skills that advance communications objectives in support of Egg Farmers of Canada's business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and oversees communications programs that address complex issues, build awareness, drive audience engagement and draw on best practices in communications
  • Delivers communications services to internal clients and other departments, contributing to the achievement of broader Egg Farmers of Canada's goals and objectives
  • Undertakes the writing, editing and production of a variety of communications materials and correspondence on behalf of Egg Farmers of Canada (e.g. publications, fact sheets, presentations, documents, letters, briefs, newsletters, blogs and other content)
  • Manages and oversees a range of social media channels. Works with junior staff to develop content for social media, promptly responds to questions and inquiries and executes creative ideas for growth in our channels
  • Undertakes the day-to-day management of the website and digital outreach programs by working with a team of external writers, content developers and digital experts in producing regular and impactful content. Optimizes the approach by interpreting analytics data
  • Monitors emerging and ongoing issues relevant to the egg farming industry. Works with the Corporate and Public Affairs team to analyze information and report out to senior management and stakeholders
  • Conducts outreach to key stakeholders and works with designated partners, building strong relationships in support of communications programs and objectives (e.g. egg board partners, industry partners and other stakeholders)
  • Contributes to a range of cross-unit and cross-departmental activities and events
  • Coaches and supports the development of junior staff and interns
  • Manages external suppliers and virtual teams to execute programs and strategies


  • Delivers high quality work on deadline
  • Superior communications skills (written and interpersonal)
  • Strong experience with visual communications (e.g. video, graphic design and photography)
  • Proficient in social media and content management tools
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Wordpress and SharePoint is an asset
  • Experience in a fast-paced, energetic team
  • Strong time management skills
  • Diligent, conscientious and reliable
  • Available for occasional work outside of office hours

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in liberal arts, communications, public relations or journalism
  • Minimum 5-6 years in a similar communications role
  • Proficient in oral and written communication in both English and French
