Aviva Canada has an immediate opening for an experienced integrated communications professional to lead and tell our climate ambition story as we execute on our plan to become a carbon net zero company by 2040.

The focus of this role will be to tell our story on climate change. Reporting into the Head of External Communications, the role will lead all internal and external communications related to Aviva Canada's climate action plan, support all communication needs for climate-related projects and be a trusted communications business partner to the local and global Corporate Responsibility teams within Aviva.

What you'll do

Lead and project manage all climate-related communications campaigns and initiatives to support Aviva Canada's climate commitment

Create and implement integrated and engaging communications strategies to tell Aviva's climate ambition story internally and externally, leveraging multiple channels

Act as the primary communications contact on all matters related to our climate ambition, including overseeing day-to-day stakeholder and partnership management where applicable

Work closely with colleagues in all business units including Corporate Responsibility and Government Relations to support Aviva's climate narrative and advance employee engagement

Partner with Group Communications, local and global Corporate Responsibility teams to ensure best practice sharing and support of global climate-related and ESG communications initiatives.

Produce Aviva Canada's annual Public Accountability Statement

What you'll bring

7-10 years of experience working in Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Journalism

Demonstrated experience in executing and delivering integrated climate change and ESG communications strategies

Commitment to and passion for climate change work with a solid understanding of today's key global climate/ESG issues and landscape, and the roles of the financial sector both in Canada and abroad

Proven track record of project management capabilities including ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects at a time

Ability to adapt or pivot in a dynamic and fast-changing environment

Works well under pressure, able to problem solve and navigate a complex, matrix organization

A positive attitude along with a genuine enthusiasm to support what the team is trying to achieve. The ability to embrace our collaborative culture is paramount

Ability to laugh at yourself, have fun and adapt to different situations as necessary
