Dow's North American North Public Affairs Team is seeking a Geographic Communications Specialist to develop and implement communications strategies and tactics focused on employees and key community stakeholders at Dow manufacturing facilities in Canada. Dow's geographic communications specialists are individual contributors responsible for developing and
implementing multi-channel internal and external communications plans that protect, build and drive Dow's reputation and brand. These specialists support site and business objectives and priorities that encourage employee engagement, and positive community relationships with key stakeholder groups at our four Canadian sites in Alberta and Ontario.
The role is highly visible within the geography, action-oriented and critical to maintaining Dow's license to operate. Key attributes for success include, strong written and verbal communication skills, crisis management expertise, stakeholder relationship management experience, and proficiency with providing regulatory communications support. The role will report to the NA North Communications Advisor and will receive direction from the Canadian Geographic Communications Manager for developing and implementing employee, site and growth project communications plans at the site level, participating in media relations support and nurturing strong relationships with key community stakeholders in Alberta and Ontario. This position is also responsible for overseeing and managing site global citizenship (charitable) partnerships.
This position will join an energetic and dynamic team, designed to elevate Dow's employee communications and foster strong relationships with key community stakeholders.
Implements targeted integrated communications plans supporting regulatory compliance, corporate and business priorities, as well as country and site-specific objectives.
Develops and implements Canadian employee communications strategy and plan; manages communication channels to employees.
Utilizes social media platforms and ensures they are an integrated part of the digital communications approach.
Develops and updates key messages, speeches, and presentations for site leadership.
Coordinates and prepares meetings, briefings, and communication sessions for site leadership.
Oversees the organization of on-site events.
Serves as a member of site committees and the North American North crisis management and emergency response team.
Understands and applies Dow's ambition and priorities, business and financial acumen, in prioritization and decision-making activities.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with key Alberta and Ontario stakeholder groups, community members and local influencers.
Supports and implements community outreach programs and manages the communications flow with the communities where Dow operates in Canada.
Supports local media relations.
Works in partnership with the Corporate Volunteer Manager to deliver on Dow's Global Citizenship-related objectives within Canada.
Collaborates with Dow businesses and functions located within Canada to innovate new opportunities to engage with community partners (financial, in-kind, volunteerism) to build resilient communities that are inclusive, sustainable and focused on developing a ready workforce.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in a professional communications role.
Ability to create and implement communications strategies.
Ability to work with a team located in the United States, Eastern Time Zone, with potential for future travel within Canada and the U.S.
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company support or sponsorship.

7+ years of experience in a professional communications role
