Communications Specialist

Do you enjoy developing stakeholder awareness, engagement, and connection to a brand through informative and creative communications? The LCBO is looking for a Communications Specialist to support the management, development and implementation of the LCBO's communication strategies and plans, both internally and externally, with a strong focus on supporting internal communications, corporate narrative, and transformational projects.

A part of the Corporate Communications team, you will advance the LCBO's strategic goals by creating, executing, and measuring effective communications programs that support the employee experience and helps our internal stakeholders better understand LCBO's programs, mandate, services, policies, and activities. This includes supporting transformational projects like the LCBO's relocation to a new head office and the opportunity to contribute to the implementation and development of new digital communication channels.

What's the role about?

Supporting Communications Development

Develops strategic and impactful integrated communications plans to all LCBO employees across retail stores, warehouses, and head office to achieve business objectives.

Creates communication materials including intranet content, support documents, executive communications, media relations materials, and manages the development of videos and graphics, as required.

Works closely with all business units

  • with a focus on Human Resources, IT, and our Executive Offices
  • to develop a coordinated approach to all reactive and proactive communications initiatives.

Collaborating & Responding

Serves as a trusted communications advisor and partner to business units, as needed, to further the LCBO's communications objectives and business goals.

Monitors internal communication channels and responds appropriately to employee comments and questions.

Collaborates closely with internal and external digital content teams to create effective visual communications materials.

Collaborates with the wider Communication team to support media relations efforts, issues management, customer responses, and relevant industry announcements or updates

What will you bring to the team?

Well-developed writing, editing and proof-reading skills, acquired through a post-secondary degree in Corporate Communications, Public Relations or Journalism or a combination of education and experience.

Minimum 5 years' experience in Public Relations or Corporate Communications (within the public sector, beverage alcohol industry or retail industry is an asset).

Demonstrated expertise in the development of strategic internal and external communications plans that effectively engage a variety of audiences and results in strong working relationship across internal departments.

The ability to craft and communicate a compelling story.

A solid understanding of the Canadian media industry.

Digital and social media savvy. Experience managing video projects and using digital signage as an employee communication channel an asset.

Ability to prioritize among competing requests in a fast-paced environment, embrace change, and demonstrate diplomacy, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
