Rakuten Rewards Canada is seeking for a Jr. Graphic Designer with proven work in digital media and print (e-commerce experience would be an asset). You will report directly to the Manager, Creative and collaborate closely with Marketing and Sales, while striving to understand and anticipate customer needs to exceed expectations. As a driven and passionate creative professional, you possess a sharp eye in composition, layout, typography, photography, and exceptional attention to detail. The role requires fundamental strengths in the ability to multi-task, problem solve, and to keep up with current visual and design trends. It is a fast-paced environment and we thrive on agility. Develop beautiful, leading-edge, innovative, and engaging designs for web and print (video an asset), while adhering to Rakuten.ca brand standards and guidelines
Work closely with Sales on merchant campaigns and sales collateral
Collaborate with Product Manager in improving and optimizing desktop, mobile web, and app user interfaces with current UX best practices
Support production work for weekly Marketing promotions and ad-hoc campaigns
Participate in project meetings and brainstorm sessions to produce multiple design comps and work iteratively with project stakeholders from conception to completion
Accountable for upholding design accuracy and consistency, while adhering to brand guidelines and design systems
1+ years of professional experience working in a design studio or in-house environment
Possess a strong portfolio of work examples that demonstrate ideas from conception to final product with excellent use of composition, layout, typography, and imagery
Strong proficiency in Sketch, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign
Exceptional cross-platform design skills (ie. web, video, print)
Knowledge of print production file set up and preflight
Fundamental knowledge for troubleshooting technical issues in electronic files for on-screen viewing
Experience in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro or motion graphics an asset, but not required
Ability to work under tight deadlines and rise to creative challenges
Strong communication and time management skills
Goes the extra mile to QA/proofread/review own
