Vermilion has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Marketing Representative. Based in Calgary, this position will report to the Team Lead, North American Natural Gas & NGL Marketing . Responsible for NGL Marketing in North America, this positions' key focus is optimization of North American NGL netbacks through contract negotiations and evaluation of NGL market opportunities. In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with the Natural Gas Marketing Rep to ensure optimization of gas netbacks. This is a critical role within Vermilion, with the expectation that the incumbent will fully contribute to the development and execution of the NGL & Gas Marketing strategy for North America. The successful candidate will have experience in North American NGL contracts, logistics, pricing, and downstream markets. North American Natural Gas and Crude Marketing experience would also be considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate spot and term NGL sales contracts for Alberta and Saskatchewan markets
  • Evaluate and recommend longer term NGL opportunities, including processing and fractionation commitments
  • Work cross collaboratively on negotiation of commercial processing agreements
  • Evaluate, develop, and execute short and long term marketing strategies for NGL's, including physical/financial hedging and risk management strategies
  • Logistics management of NGL sales including forecasting, nominating and tracking production volumes
  • Participation in Natural Gas Marketing activities including daily/monthly sales and transport optimization
  • Provide support for Accounting activities including accruals, price verifications and statement review
  • Maintain close contact with marketing community to look for new markets and opportunities to enhance netbacks;
  • Participate in industry forums and presentations, and report industry developments to management;
  • Any other assignments or projects as necessary;

First Year Deliverables

  • Maximization of spot/term NGL sales
  • Assessment of downstream marketing opportunities
  • Assessment of daily/monthly sales strategies

Essential Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of seven years progressive experience in Oil & Gas
  • A minimum of seven years' experience specific to NGL or Natural Gas Marketing
  • Expert ability in the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership and critical analysis skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative manner with diverse groups of individuals
  • Ability to work effectively, confidentially and professionally in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Proven ability to deliver results under pressure, multi-task appropriately and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong team player with the ability to build relationships and work constructively with others to achieve business goals
  • Results oriented individual with the ability to work independently, prioritize work and multi-task effectively


  • University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting preferred
