The opportunity

You'll join our in-house National Design studio in EY Canada's Creative Services Group, helping support the important business enablement functions that keep our organization running strong. You will work across teams to provide the knowledge, resources and tools that help EY deliver exceptional quality service to our clients, win in the marketplace and support EY's growth and profitability.

Your key responsibilities

In your role as a Senior Graphic Designer

  • Pursuits, you will be seen as a creative leader within CSG and EY Canada. Your primary role be leading the layout and design of pursuit and proposal collateral throughout an engagement opportunity. You will work with and support the Creative Director for Creative Service Group and the Design Director
  • Pursuits, in any of the firm's most visible and valuable proposals.

In addition, you will have opportunities to assist various groups, teams and internal stakeholders with design needs to conceptualize shared ideas used in the development of digital and print projects. As a driven and passionate creative professional, you enjoy collaborating and working in tandem with your colleagues while striving to understand and anticipate customer's needs to exceed expectations.

Your key responsibilities also include :

Understand, and using, EY brand standards, develop leading-edge designs and innovative ideas for print and digital client deliverables

Create layouts with strong typography and image selection (supporting design theme/message) and appropriate use of colour, images and fonts, draw and redraw images/graphics, allowing for readability of type and effective communication

Working with internal clients: Business Development and other EY Canada teams to assist clients in selecting an effective design and deliverable solutions

Working with CSG and National Design: Support the Creative Director, Design Director of Pursuits, as the design lead for projects and deliverables.

Leading and taking projects end-to-end from discovery and ideation through all stages of production and final delivery, meeting both internal EY and industry standards for quality and technical excellence

Presenting multifaceted conceptual design and production solutions to internal clients based on strategies in relation to, and sound understanding of, client business needs

Maintaining expertise or high proficiency with industry software

Knowledge for troubleshooting technical issues in both print and digital based deliverables

i.e. pre-press, document optimization and interactive elements

Sharing best practices, utilizing current techniques, equipment and advancements within the design community. Expected to pursue and share best practices with the design team

Participating in project meetings and positive discussions relating to appropriate graphics methods/techniques to meet project requirements

Negotiating project deadlines to create timelines, determines project scope to define cost estimates, and schedule changes for client approval

Train new employees on hardware, software, file formats, Standards and Guidelines and intake processes

Working with external vendors regarding the coordination of production for external products and services

May be assigned to exclusively support Business Development teams to develop high level proposals and materials require for follow up presentations, including traveling to other locations.

May be assigned to provide high level support for conferences or events, including travel to other locations.

Understanding, implementing, and strictly adhering to the quality standards and procedures established by EY

Act as a Brand Ambassador, developing and delivering training regarding the Firm' brand.

Skills and attributes for success

Experience in layout and editorial design, both with regards to creative and production

Experience with InDesign interactivity and interactive PDFs

Experience in project leadership and management

An understanding of all moving parts in a project. Being able to coordinate and communicate between internal and external team members, anticipating problems with solutions ready, able to quickly prioritize and adjust approach based on unexpected changes in timelines or scope

Demonstrates flexibility to work with multiple projects/internal clients simultaneously

Strong background, knowledge and understanding of typography

A desire and willingness to learn, take on new projects and challenges to continue developing as designer

Proficient in Mac OS and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Word)

Experience in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro or motion graphics an asset, but not required.

To qualify for the role, you must have

College diploma or technical certificate in Graphic Design

5+ years professional experience as a Graphic Designer

Ideally, you'll also have

Corporate Communications experience

Editorial design experience
