What is the opportunity?

The Manager, Market Business Services Asset Servicing will assume responsibility for all FIC & Cash Equity Asset Servicing control functions for NYPD and coverage of multi Business flow. You will manage and lead Asset Servicing Capital Markets in Canada, ensuring that the department runs efficiently in a controlled manner. You will drive continuous change and improvement keeping all areas of responsibility abreast of regulatory, compliance and business led initiatives.

Aligned to BCS from a functional perspective, and aligned to Capital Markets FIC and Equities from a regional service provision perspective, you will ensure that each support group is leveraging existing technology, coordinates enhancements to improve working processes and works closely with the front office business heads and local operations heads to advise and implement new business initiatives in line with business plans.

You will ensure accurate and timely management of Asset Servicing activities and processing, monitoring payments, all completed in accordance with Standing Orders and Unit Financial Control requirements.

What will you do?

  • Monitor quality of service to our internal business partners and external clients.
  • Work closely with the front office to ensure support groups meet the existing and future requirements of the business
  • Continue to develop product knowledge, to ensure that processes are in place to minimize operational, settlement and market risks
  • Manages the team supporting the US Municipal, Rates (Government Securities) and Repo. Trading desks through Corporate Actions processing in the NY Branch Entity. Products Include: Municipal and Government Bonds (Rates and Agency) and Equity Preferred
  • Participate in the relevant industry forums to seek out industry trends in the region to ensure best in class solutions
  • Partner with all businesses and relevant functions to ensure best fit in terms of process ownership and accountability. Participate in the relevant industry forums to seek out industry trends in the region to ensure best in class solutions
  • Work closely with the front office to ensure support groups meet the existing and future requirements of the business
  • Implement effective audit controls in accordance with established guidelines and regulations
  • Ensure sufficient controls are in place to sign off on repartees' attestation, in accordance with the global RBC attestation policy
  • Ensure that appropriate procedures and controls are in place to effectively and efficiently process and report trading activities. Review processes on an on-going basis to ensure that they continue to be relevant to the current environment
  • Ensure that all manual payments are released accurately i.e. check that all payment details have been entered correctly by the inputter. Fully understand and abide by the standing order on payments
  • Assume responsibility for the oversight of daily monitoring and gathering of data for metrics and reporting. Also to ensure the prompt escalation of any issues to the Associate Director, MBS Asset Servicing
  • Manage projects within the department that require specialized business and operational knowledge; act as key liaison with other areas of RBFG
  • Verifiers must ensure they understand and abide by the Payment Risk Standing Order at all times

What will you need?

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • 5+ years industry experience in Fixed Income and Equity products, including US Treasury, Municipal and Mortgage Back Securities
  • Experienced as a people manager
  • Strong background in BCS Operational Functions with Capital Markers environment.
  • Solid knowledge of Equity and Fixed Income with particular emphasis on BCS Operational processes and controls.
  • Strong understanding of international clearing systems, rules and regulations pertaining to these products.
  • Strong knowledge of Asset Servicing and the potential impacts if not handled correctly.
  • Robust knowledge of corporate action events and processing.
  • Proficiency in ICI-Impact, Gloss, Sophis, CAR, DTCC, Markit, BoNY Nexen and Alfresco.
  • Proficient in basic MS Suite functionality
