About this role:
Director of Communications: the person who will redefine the perception of open source in the enterprise.
The ideal candidate:
We're looking for a storyteller, with a background in technology, to help grow Canonical presence, influence and brands across the globe. In this role you'll be building a new Canonical brand image, crafting our platform narrative, telling our story to internal and external audiences, shaping our responses to industry events or trends, and providing strategic input to executives on a range of industry and public relations topics.
The Communications Team

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader, who will work closely with senior leadership, product teams, customers and partners to orchestrate the growth in visibility of our brands and company among enterprise. They will also demonstrate the ability to collaborate with engineering, HR and customer success to encourage and amplify developer and community advocacy.
Candidates will need to demonstrate their ability to create a strategic positioning for Canonical's portfolio, build thought leadership programs and achieve cohesion and consistency in messaging and tone of voice across channels. Candidates with experience in evangelism and technical communication in the SAAS, cloud, system integration and IT services industries who have operated across verticals and regions will be well placed for this position.
Canonical is a distributed organisation and most executives are not office-based. The role reports to the VP of Marketing who is primarily in EMEA time zones. The business is global and exceptional candidates from all regions will be considered.
