The Graphics Applicator/Plotter/Printer will work on a wide variety of projects including but not limited to, logo and identity application, vehicle wraps and graphics, canopies, illuminated building signage, pylons/monuments and channel letters. This is a physically demanding position so the ideal candidate must be capable of standing on their feet for 8 hours per day and lifting moderate/heavy loads.

Knowledge of available materials and print processes, as well as colour management techniques, is preferred. Application and plotter operation skills are also preferred.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities :

- All aspects of print production (print, laminate, cut, etc.)

- Prepare production files for print, as well as vinyl and router (when needed)

- Equipment maintenance (printers, laminator, plotters, edge)

- Material ordering for print department

- Identify and develop new applications/methods to utilize print in existing projects

- Re-creation/vectorization of customer assets when quality files aren't available

- Work with Project Managers and local sales to apply accurate and quality designs for clients

- Collaborate with design and graphics departments on a variety of projects

- On and offsite logo and decal application; vehicle wrap preparation and application

- Commit to ensuring a clean, safe and efficient work environment (5S)

- Learn about department processes and determine how they can be improved (e.g. specification guideline for consistency, folder filing system, improve communication between Project Managers and Designers)

Flex/Eradication

- Check for quality when pre-done flex faces are required

- Cut, mark fold lines and eradicate logos

Graphics Application

- Prep substrate surfaces

- Pre-masking vinyl, weeding of image and/or font

- Use of the Rolls Roller or freehand application

Installs

- Travelling to local business and applying graphics onsite

- Complete site surveys, when required

Car Wraps

- Clean/prep vehicles

- Apply vehicle wrap (in house or on-site)

Quality Control

- Understand and uphold Selkirk's high standards of workmanship and customer service

- Ensure careful consideration of sign installation and future servicing requirements during the graphic application process

- Ensure superior attention to detail and quality of product throughout the project cycle with the graphics department

- Capable of standing on feet for 8 hours per day and lifting moderate/heavy loads

- Requires the ability to learn and understand the different types/brands of vinyl that we use as well as their different uses and applications in the building of a sign

Additional information :

- Wage Rate: negotiable based on experience

- General Working Hours: 7:00am

  • 3:30pm, Monday
  • Friday. Overtime as required.

- Full benefits after completing probationary period

- Breaks: 1/2hr unpaid lunch

  • two 20 min paid breaks
