The Marketing & Guest Experience Coordinator acts as a brand ambassador for the shopping centre. In the position, you will seek opportunities to create memorable customer interactions, provide excellent service and foster an internal culture to support this mandate. As the Marketing & Guest Experience Coordinator, you will help bring to life the Deerfoot City experience through guest services, marketing, and tenant support related responsibilities.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Guest Services

  • Lead and support other Guest Services staff and seasonal Guest Services Hosts
  • Proactively seek to create a memorable guest experience and demonstrate 5-star hospitality, going above and beyond for guests
  • First point of contact answering phones and responding to text messages promptly
  • Manage Guest Services email inbox and communications
  • Time on-site will be split between office/desk work and roaming the property to upkeep daily Guest Services requirements
  • Continuously look for new ways of delivering guest service experiences through programs like ?surprise and delight?
  • Help prepare and conduct Guest Intercept Surveys
  • Learn how to use the Crisis Management plan and maintain a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities as outlined in the plan
  • Working collaboratively with property teams such as Operations, Maintenance and Security
  • Work with property teams on maintenance of equipment and property items as needed with the expectation that you have attempted to troubleshoot prior to requesting additional assistance
  • Inventory management of Guest Services supplies

Marketing & Community Engagement

  • Play a key role in Centre events & programming by planning, hosting, set up and take down
  • Manage Community room bookings, Food Lodge-Tenant Displays and promotional signage programs (both the creation and installation of signs)
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all promotional and marketing initiatives; informing retailers at needed
  • Carry out research initiatives
  • Ideation and coordination of community-driven initiatives such as the Shape Outreach Program with Calgary Food Bank
  • Research and lead quarterly community initiatives that spread awareness for our property & serve the community
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of operational signage, event posters, on-site and digital designs and graphics
  • Assist in social media photography and postings
  • Assist in website maintenance
  • Assist in email marketing campaigns
  • Manage gift card program and plan new campaign strategies to support gift card sales

Tenant Support & Administration

  • Develop and maintain a clear, effective, and prompt line of communication with our retailers building supportive relationships
  • Meet with retailers regularly to understand their initiatives and share Centre information
  • Responsible for retailer mystery shop program
  • Create and implement a retailer treat day program
  • Assist with SHAPE Occupational Health and Safety initiatives and overall program through education, awareness, and training
  • Prepare Specialty Leasing Agreements
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in new tenant openings with items such as signage updates, pre-launch events and digital postings


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent guest service skills and the ability to listen and be in control of various situations in a clear, friendly, and helpful way
  • Must bring energy to both team and guest environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Excellent communication and proven presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Aptitude to embrace change and welcome new approaches in an exceedingly evolving, fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and a demonstrated ability to be proactive, resourceful, approachable, focused and truly care at all times
  • Excellent follow-through on tasks and organizational skills

  • Must be flexible and able to work weekends, nights and holidays as needed

Required Training and Experience

  • Minimum two years industry related experience
