BCIT International is currently seeking a temporary, full-time Administrative Assistant. This position provides general administrative support related to the Associate Dean (AD), International and the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES). The work will balance between supporting the implementation and ongoing activities related to the interculturalization of BCIT and the daily administrative and client support performed by the ICES team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Associate Dean's Administrative Support

  • Maintains the AD's calendar and arranges meetings; provides meeting support, including preparing and distributing agenda and other relevant materials, and takes action as necessary.
  • Develops and maintains a database of training and event activities; enters, tracks and maintains all attendant information, feedback data and provides reports as required.
  • Supports the tracking of cross-institutional and international projects with appropriate tools to support AD's updates and planning.

ICES Administrative Support

  • Supports and engages in professional service interactions with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Reviews and handles a range of documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
  • Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade of this position.



  • Completion of Grade 12 plus one year of post-secondary education in business management or office administration.
  • Two years of general experience plus two years of direct experience in an educational support environment.
  • Intermediate level competency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel.
  • Administrative email and internet search experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen, communicate and resolve issues with a diverse, multicultural client base.
  • Resourceful and proven ability to show tact, patience and diplomacy in assisting staff and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a high volume environment.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be an independent self-starter with the ability to solve problems and provide a high level of customer service.
  • Accurate data entry at 50 wpm.

Salary Range

Pay Grade 5; $46,800 to $50,479 per annum

Additional Salary Information

External hires are initially placed at the minimum of the salary range with progression to the maximum. Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
