Are you an experienced communications professional looking for new challenges and creative opportunities? Join the Communications Department at the City of Kelowna, where you will support City-led projects and programs that deliver services to citizens and advance community vision.
A Communications Advisor leads communications and community engagement on projects that advance the City's strategic priorities through a corporate service delivery model. You will have key internal business partners within the City that you guide, support and deliver a full suite of services, from media event planning to issue management, to internal and external communications strategies and tactics for both traditional and digital channels.
Engage your strong writing, research and interpersonal skills to develop and implement communication plans, public participation strategies and public awareness campaigns. As a creative communicator with both tactical and strategic experience, you can move seamlessly from defining goals, to analyzing audiences and risks, to creating the in-market collateral for a variety of channels. Flexibility to balance priorities and multiple projects is critical, as you will have multiple business partners you support in your portfolio.
The successful candidate will have a university degree in Communications or Public Relations and will have at least four years of related employment experience that includes public engagement, strategic and collaborative communications, media relations, issues management and social media. Experience in web content management, design software and digital engagement tools will be preferred.

We are currently recruiting for 2 term positions. These position are work from home roles and are open to candidates across British Columbia:
- a 12+ month term position and
- a 6 month term position, with the possibility of extension to 12 months

Starts at $40.43 per hour with a 2-step progression to $43.02 per hour plus 14% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits
