Director of Media & Marketing

The Banff Hospitality Collective Media & Marketing Department fulfills all media, design, marketing, website and digital creative needs for our 14 member businesses. Additionally, the department works closely with Banff & Lake Louise Tourism to host media and share press coverage. We are currently looking for a Director of Media & Marketing reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. This position is a 12 month maternity leave position, with the possibility of being extended.

The ideal candidate is an expert on marketing trends and brings measurable, results-oriented campaign ideas to the table. While the primary focus of your role is to research, plan, oversee and report on an integrated marketing plan, you will also work closely with the design department to ensure campaign content aligns with the strategic priorities of BHC which are to:

  • Increase restaurant sales & guest covers in shoulder season/need periods (Nov-April)
  • Build awareness and brand strength for new member businesses
  • Establish BHC (and our members) within the regional market as bucket-list; must visit, sought-after places to eat, drink and socialize in downtown Banff.

You're also an expert communicator, natural leader and professional mentor who works well with others. This position oversees the Media & Marketing Department and its 3 employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hold weekly one-on-one employee coaching sessions & bi-weekly team meetings, delegate employee priorities & deadlines, share campaign feedback (wins & learnings) with team members.
  • Report to the CEO on campaign performance, plan additional campaigns as new needs arise.
  • Create content plans for all BHC umbrella marketing campaigns, plan & secure two annual strategic partnerships.
  • Manage approved annual marketing budget, request budget increases if necessary.
  • Create a communication plan/strategy for any hot button topics that arise.
  • Provide strategic direction to the design team for specific content and deliverables related to photography, video/animation, print and online marketing assets.
  • Execute marketing campaigns with Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram, BHC's monthly e-newsletter and boost campaigns on reservation & review sites.
  • Coordinate hosted media visits with Banff & Lake Louise Tourism, qualify direct media inquiries, solicit media coverage for new venues, oversee BHC's participation in any filming or interviews.


  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field
  • Minimum 4 years experience in marketing
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a leadership role with reporting employees
  • Expert communicator with strong written and verbal skills
  • Experience in graphic design & website editing is an asset
