Whitby, Ontario (Oshawa Plant)

As a member of the Human Resources team, the Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for providing administrative support on a day to day basis to the Human Resources department.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Screens resumes and performs interviews for hiring of line work employees.
  • Provides DDI Testing for all hourly hiring potentials along with indoctrination and orientation of all new employees.
  • Processes all changes in Success Factors and Dayforce including new hires and terminations
  • Tracks probationary employees and ensures 30, 60- and 90-day assessments are completed by Coaches.
  • Acts as a resource for hourly and salaried employees regarding HR issues/concerns.
  • Coordinates pension and benefits for hourly and salary employees and acts as a Liaison for our benefit providers (GWL, Greenshield / BOS and Mercer)
  • Administers the short-term and long-term disability program
  • Adds all new hires to the hourly training matrix.
  • Creates Purchase Orders for HR Department and receive items into the COUPA system.
  • Produces security badges for all employees and forklift badges for licensed employees.
  • Maintains glove machine and overtime databases.
  • Harassment representative that participates with the union representative in investigations and ensures and understands compliance with harassment within the workplace.
  • Creates and distributes quarterly newsletter.
  • Maintains electronic HR and employee files accurately and confidentially.
  • Performs any other duties as required in pursuance to the function of this position or as directed.

Your Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Current knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Employment Standards Act
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Success Factors, Dayforce
  • Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Planning, time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple

Bonus If You Have:

  • Post-Secondary Education or Experiential Equivalency
  • 1-2 years' experience in and Human Resources administrative function preferably within a union environment in the manufacturing/ automotive industry.
