Job Summary:

The Marketing Assistant is responsible for supporting the Marketing, Publicity and Sales teams with a focus on HMH and Clarion titles. They will liaise between departments and HCUS to ensure excellent coverage in the Canadian market for these titles. This role is involved in creating digital advertising, processing analytics and marketing reports, and providing general marketing support. The Marketing Assistant will also assist with the bookseller outreach program.

Responsibilities :

Provides marketing assistance to HMH and Clarion titles (50%)

  • Creates and designs marketing collateral
  • Executes social media advertising and various consumer newsletters
  • Seeks new digital venues for advertising and manages existing relationships
  • Liaises with Publicity, Marketing and Sales team internally

Digital Advertising (25%)

  • Creates and designs marketing collateral
  • Executes social media advertising and various consumer newsletters
  • Provides Amazon marketing assistance and reporting
  • Seeks new digital venues for advertising and manages existing relationships

Supports Indigo Outreach marketing (10%)

  • Maintains bookseller database and ensures consistency
  • Manages bookseller mailings, creates presentation decks and attends presentations
  • Creates content for ?bookseller-targeted' websites and social platforms

Manages administrative tasks and provides general department assistance (15%)

  • Tracks and distributes ARCs across sales, marketing and publicity
  • Creates marketing Powerpoints and campaign sell sheets
  • Coordinates marketing schedule and ensures output efficiency


Specific training or job experience required includes:

  • Proficiency with major social media platforms
  • Experience with digital advertising and analytics required
  • High degree of written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • 1-2 Years of Publishing or Marketing experience an asset
  • Proficiency with Canva and other general design tools an asset
  • Post-secondary education with a focus in any of the following: sales, marketing, publicity, communications, business and literature
