The Role:

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the sales team. The primary focus of the Catering Sales Manager is to drive sales of the catering and event business to new and existing clients by consistently delivering exceptional service to guests of Grouse Mountain. You will be responsible for booking events, selling meeting space and generating catering revenue, and following through with planning and logistics. This individual will be comfortable working in a team environment and also demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit as they achieve departmental targets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Optimize sales of existing event business by promoting Grouse Mountain venues, activities and Catering menus
  • Achieve all catering and event sales goals as it relates to personal and team productivity
  • Proactively solicit new business and manage relationships with existing clients and lost business leads, to meet/exceed revenue goals and expand Grouse Mountain's client base through various mediums
  • Build and maintain client and vendor relations
  • Liaise with internal departments & external suppliers
  • Understand the complex needs of different events, and diverse clients
  • Conduct site visits to gain valuable business
  • Respond to incoming leads, answer inquiries and send quotes
  • Coordinate all event details from inquiry, contract, processing payments, populating Banquet Event Orders, creating floorplans, finalizing event details and closing events
  • Ensure a high level of client satisfaction
  • Identify and solicits new clients or target groups
  • Execute and oversee some events on the day of, including welcoming guests, problem-solving, communicating with staff, and organizing vendors
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in catering sales & event planning preferred
  • Proven track record of strong selling & negotiating skills, ability to establish key contacts and generate business
  • Work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a high speed and high demand environment, managing the logistics of multiple events simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail orientated & extremely organized with time management skills
  • Committed work ethic; positive work attitude
  • Creative & driven individual with a passion for events, sales and guest satisfaction
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Knowledge of MS products from Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Occasional overtime, evening and weekend work
