MHG Catering & Events

The MHG Catering & Events team has established themselves as industry leaders in full-service catering on PEI, producing special experiences at the PEI Brewing Company (PEIBC) and The Rivershed (Oyster Bed Bridge). MHG Catering & Events consistently exceeds clients' expectations, with a reputation for raising the bar in the world of special event production. Whether its an intimate event for twenty people, or an extravagant event for more than five hundred, you can trust our team to deliver on every detail.

As General Manager, You Will

The General Manager oversees all aspects of MHG Catering and Events operations, including the execution of all events. The General Manager leads and collaborates with the entire team and fosters a culture that is safe, inclusive and fun! The General Manager is laser focused on ensuring the guests have a memorable experience on their special occasion.

  • Execute the financial, marketing, and human resource strategies that ensure the successful operation of all catering and events
  • Lead Business Development for the division (e.g. monitor websites, answer inquiries and requests, develop proposals and quotations, etc.)
  • Conduct site visits and lead correspondence with clients and potential clients
  • Negotiate, set up and manage contracts for all events
  • Accountable for MG Catering & Events financials (e.g. labour costs, cost of goods sold and costing team schedules)
  • Communicate the vision to the team, reinforce MHG core values and lead by example
  • Work with HR team to execute hiring strategy, ensuring each event is staffed appropriately
  • Oversee training plans, ensuring all staff have the required knowledge and skill to perform their roles and that MHG's standards and operating procedures are met
  • Lead, mentor and coach employees to achieve their career goals and operational objectives
  • Plan, organize and execute all external events and internal MHG events as requested
  • Promote and market MHG Catering & Events - get involved in the community! (e.g. attend off-site events, volunteer events, community events and fundraisers, etc.)
  • Lead designated initiatives for Cavendish Beach Music Festival (CBMF) (e.g. Corporate suites)
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to ensure menu standards are met according to MHG standards
  • Build and maintain authentic relationships with guests and team members
  • Provide conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques as required
  • Jump in to assist the team during events as required
  • Lead weekly staff meetings communicating all financial, operational, marketing and HR related strategies for MHG Catering & Events
  • Communicate and collaborate with all internal MHG functions and departments; work closely with Head Office on MHG initiatives

What You Bring

  • A post-secondary diploma/degree in business or hospitality is considered an asset
  • Experience leading a team
  • A valid driver's license and transportation is required
