Role Introduction

Cathay Pacific Airways is looking for a motivated individual to join the Americas People team as Regional Talent Acquisition Lead, Americas based in Toronto, Canada. This position will play a key role in ensuring Cathay attracts, selects and brings on board the right people for our operations and Company culture, whilst providing an excellent candidate experience. The successful candidate will be an expert in the recruitment processes to support line managers in attracting and retaining top talent.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Attraction and Employer Branding

  • Execute a professional, brand enhancing candidate experience through all recruitment and selection cycle touch-points
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the airline, promoting the employee value proposition and inspiring candidates to apply for positions and accept opportunities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and processes related to sourcing, recruiting, selection, promotion, transfer and onboarding
  • Participate in HR / talent acquisition projects as required

Recruitment and Selection Process Excellence

  • Manage the end to end recruitment and selection processes by discussing requirements with hiring managers and developing commercially focused, brand enhancing initiatives, job advertisement creation, sourcing, screening, selecting, offer and onboarding
  • Be the expert in recruitment tools and processes to ensure high quality of candidate experience and professionalism including the adoption of new tools and technology aligned with the global talent acquisition strategy
  • Conduct effective and timely shortlisting to ensure the most suitable candidates are seen by the hiring managers
  • Effectively prioritize different roles and ensure that time to fill vacancies is measured and optimized
  • Design and conduct interview and assessment centres
  • Administer and interpret psychometric tests and provide insights to the hiring managers
  • Conduct a targeted search for key roles as required
  • Coordinate recruitment and selection activity for all applicable overseas hires or internal transfers and secondments
  • Ensure all background checks are conducted in a compliant manner
  • Conduct reference checking via phone to ensure the quality of hires and risk minimization
  • Manage internal promotion and progression programmes and activities as required
  • Be the expert in US and Canada legislation regarding recruitment and selection processes including discrimination and data privacy regulations

Compliance with US Office of Federal Contract Compliance Program (OFCCP)

  • Maintains required records and documentation to ensure OFCCP compliance

Line Manager Development and Support

  • Review job descriptions and ensure that the job advertisement is posted in an effective, clear and appealing manner
  • Provide expertise in interpreting test results, shortlists, interviews and assessment centre performance
  • Provide a sounding board on candidate performance and corporate cultural fit
  • Provide a factual, impartial and fair assessment of candidates

Candidate Experience

  • Proactively build relationships and strengthen our employer branding in the region to attract the right talent
  • Identify employer brand building opportunities
  • Manage talent pools to help improve pipeline of talent for future


  • Ensure that the onboarding process is delivered in the local context to bring the Cathay brand to life
  • Manage and administer the Brushwinger (new joiner) platform to ensure it adds value to Brushwingers
  • Check in with Brushwingers after 90 days to provide support and advice if needed
  • Ensure all onboarding administration is completed and well documented


  • A 4-year bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field is preferred
  • At least 5 years' experience in international recruitment and selection processes in a cross-country environment
  • Must have experience with OFCCP and EEOC Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures
  • Airline experience is an asset
  • Strong cultural sensitivity with high cross-cultural communication ability
  • Demonstrates good judgment and ability to remain impartial
  • Knowledge of legislation related to recruitment and selection
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Efficient and able to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management ability
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • A high degree of technological ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must comply with the Company's mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination policy
  • Must have the right to live and work in Canada
