Our fantastic Fundraising department is looking to hire a Head of Community and Events to refresh our Community and Events offering.

Following a review of our Fundraising and Marketing capabilities, we are now looking for someone with experience, drive and ambition to join us and lead our Community & Events public fundraising team, playing a key role in delivering our ambitions for 2023 and beyond in this area.

We will look to our Head of Community and Events to take the lead on developing a new strategy at the same time as building and inspiring a new team to deliver it. This is a big role but also a new one, so it is a really exciting opportunity for the right person to make the role their own and to bring some fresh ideas to our fantastic organisation.

Leading a small team, you will engage and inspire your colleagues to refresh and create some new and exciting products, not least contributing towards our 200th year celebrations in 2024.

At the RSPCA we are implementing an integrated, audience focussed approach in line with our exciting new Strategy. You will play a key part in helping us to bring that to life. Working with our branches to improve their events, you will also have the chance to collaborate with key stakeholders across the organisation.

The role will be hybrid working from our South East Regional Hub - (Horsham, West Sussex) or our London Hub (Blackfriars) with a high focus on remote working. Trips to our hub will be for core collaboration.

Here's Some Of The Key Work You'll Be Doing

  • Manage an expenditure budget of £450k initially, with room for growth based on success.
  • Deploy an audience focussed, data-led approach in order to research, devise, implement, monitor and report on a Community & Events Strategy.
  • Develop and implement a holistic marketing plan to promote and increase public involvement in Community Fundraising
  • Ensuring all events and related fundraising activity complies with charity law, Fundraising Standards Board, Institute of Fundraising Guidelines, RSPCA policies and procedures.
  • Deliver new 'product' opportunities for engagement with our community and, where relevant, to work with our Branches on a co-creation approach to community products.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Experience of developing and implementing strategic recommendations.
  • Experience leading & managing a team
  • Proven experience in sales and marketing within a charity events department including creating a successful event or community product/approach
  • Knowledge of approaches to community fundraising, mass participation, challenge events and other relevant approaches.
  • Proven successful track record of planning, and managing profitable fundraising activity.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and health & safety legislation relating to events.
  • Knowledge of Website donation tools (e.g. JustGiving etc).
  • Ability to present and deliver workshops and training materials/sessions.
  • Experience of working with budgets and presenting results, insights, and commentary on a monthly basis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Good project management skills
  • Experience of service design techniques that provide a high quality customer experience.
  • Effective decision-making skills.

Flexibility in Hours - We understand the importance of work-life balance and we offer our colleagues the flexibility to vary their location between both the office and home. Core Hours- with agreement staff can work their 35 hours flexibly across Monday to Friday. Provided the core hours of 10:00-15:00 are covered start and finish times each date can be flexed (prorated for part time staff).
