Under general direction of the Manager, HR Services and providing support to the HR Consultants, the incumbent provides a wide range of human resources services to client departments and in support of the overall client portfolio.

The Human Resources Advisor provides services areas, such as: recruitment, job evaluation, salary administration, data and metrics reporting, employee onboarding, re-organizations and layoffs, interpretation and application of human resource and payroll policies and practices, the interpretation and application of staff policies and collectives agreements, organizational change, and performance management.

Responsibilities also include advising a dedicated client group on employment-related laws and jurisprudence, including the Human Rights Code, the Employment Standards Act, etc., analyzing, evaluating and classifying both unionized and non-unionized positions; providing recruitment advice and assistance to clients; providing general advice and guidance, in consultation with HR Consultants at CAHRS, on organizational change and restructuring; contributing to attendance and disability management as a member of a cross-functional team; and participating in special projects and process re-engineering.

The HR Advisor is an integral part of the CAHRS Team and is expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism, striving to ensure timely, quality results for all clients while maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of relevant University policies, collective agreements and government legislation.

Qualifications Required:

EDUCATION:

University degree or the acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of (or working towards) Certificate of Human Resources Professional (CHRP). Coursework in statistics an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum three (3) years' experience working in a Human Resources department with experience in recruitment, job evaluation, labour relations, organizational change, attendance management, performance management, salary administration and HR policy interpretation and application. Sound knowledge of human resources best practices and employment related legislation. Familiarity with academic environments preferred.

SKILLS:

Keyboarding skills, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint. Experience using HRIS preferred. Advanced research and data analysis skills.
