Beakerhead is now apart of the Spark Science Centre family.
Position Overview
Beakerhead is currently recruiting for two (2) full-time contract Coordinator, Events. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all the major logistical requirements, production elements, and infrastructure for Beakerhead for the annual festival that takes place September. The Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director of Beakerhead and will work closely with them alongside the Operations Architect. This will be a 14 week full-time contract and is apart of the Canada's summer jobs grant program.
Key Responsibilities
- Support coordinating all major logistical requirements, production elements, and infrastructure for Beakerhead Including critical paths, production schedules, and show flows, risk management, accessibility, and environmental plans utilizing the project management system and the full GSuite of products.
- Liaising with City of Calgary Departments and agencies to ensure all necessary documents, permits, licensing and inspections are acquired, in compliance, completed and in place in alignment with all timelines, including road closures, building permits, and site electrical.
- Specific focus will be given to managing and executing logistical elements for Beakerhead, including site plan development (CAD drafting), contractor and vendor liasoning.
- Logistical execution of entertainment stages including show flow development, artist transportation, technical rider advancement, audio/visual coordination, scenic/staging development (Drapery backdrops, etc.)
- Work in collaboration with the Beakerhead production team in successful execution of project plan supporting the production of Beakerhead installations, programming, artists, and logistics.
· Ensure personal and team activities are aligned with business and strategic goals of Spark as a whole.
· Model high performance, flexibility and kindness in a rapidly changing growth environment.
· Other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications & Knowledge
· A minimum of 6 months experience in event coordination.
· Fluency in Microsoft Office and Google Doc Suite.
· Fluency in Microsoft office and Google docs editor suite and able to use most platforms.
· A proven track record of adding value to an organization's culture and initiatives.
· A positive attitude!
· Desire to work on a high performing team with a continuous upgrading culture to achieve high impact results. Fluidity and a desire to work hard and grow are essential.
· A high degree of creativity with the ability to leave your ego at the door.
· Willingness to learn and adapt to change.

Hourly Rate: $23.00 per hour.

Eligibility as per the Government of Canada Summer Job Grant:
· The youth hire must be between the ages of 15-30 years of age.
