Job Description
This position will oversee Brookfield Properties' arts and events programming across the Calgary region, including strategy, planning, coordination, marketing, logistics, contracts, administration, budgets, analytics, and evaluation?ensuring seamless success from inception to completion.
The successful candidate will advance Brookfield Properties' commitment to our stakeholders and community through innovative placemaking and arts & culture programs. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams, external vendors, and community partners to create unparalleled and inspired experiences for our tenants, retailers, and visitors while raising the profile of Brookfield Properties as a leader in commercial real estate leasing and operational excellence.
As an essential member of the region's Marketing, Arts & Events team, the Manager, Arts & Events will support corporate and individual property objectives through the delivery of a robust annual arts and events programming calendar. They will collaborate closely with their Director to ensure strategic alignment of all activities as well as with the team's digital marketer to ensure all events are supported by effective promotional collateral and communications.
The Manager, Arts & Events will work closely with the property management teams, as a central resource and subject matter expert, to engage with each property's unique community while replicating and iterating on successful programming to scale it across the portfolio. They are expected to plan and execute initiatives within the approved business plan, on time, and on budget while seeking to find efficiencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the planning and execution of all Brookfield Properties events, programming, and arts & culture initiatives in the Calgary region
Identify opportunities to evolve and advance the regional events strategy to achieve Marketing, Arts & Events departmental objectives and Brookfield Properties organizational objectives
Create and maintain an annual events and programming calendar that maximizes engagement opportunities
Develop, execute, and iterate on creative tenant engagement events at each property
Work with the region's internal leasing team to plan and execute events for commercial real estate brokers
Advance community building and vibrancy through innovative and inclusive placemaking that animates the properties' common areas and public spaces
Plan Brookfield Properties corporate events, including quarterly meetings, social committee events, Brookfield Cares initiatives, and annual charity campaigns
Liaise with tenant representatives to assist with event hosting needs in property common areas
Liaise with third-party event groups and planners hosting events at a property
Develop partnerships with local arts, culture, and community-building organizations to create programs of mutual benefit
Work with local, national, and international artists to bring art installations and performances to properties through the Brookfield Arts & Culture program
Administration of all event-related contracts and agreements with artists, performers, and vendors, including public area use agreements, certificates of insurance, and work authorization forms
Coordinate all catering, audio-visual, décor, staffing/volunteers, and photography associated with Brookfield Properties events
Source, hire, and manage all external vendors to support the delivery of the events
Develop and maintain a database of suppliers, entertainers, artists, etc.
Communicate and coordinate with various departments to ensure Brookfield's level of excellence is provided to all event hosts and to ensure effective team participation in event set-up, execution, and strike-down
With the support of the team's digital marketer, develop promotional and communications materials to support regional and property events, using both traditional and digital channels and formats
Coordinate invitation and registration processes associated with property and corporate events, including design direction, content, distribution, and RSVP tracking
Maintain project budgets, including securing quotes, preparing purchase orders, and tracking invoices and payments
Create post-event reports used to measure the effectiveness of engagement, activation, and brand awareness
Seek opportunities to replicate events and adjust scale to achieve regional scope and streamline processes
Prepare and present departmental updates related to events and programming to senior management and property managers, as required
Actively participate and engage in departmental planning and team meetings
Perform other administrative duties to support the success of events and programming initiatives and the department, as required
QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Three to five (3-5) years of related work experience in event planning and implementation
strong event logistics acumen, including a high-level understanding of A/V and other technical requirements
Knowledge of placemaking and community-building fundamentals
Exposure to Commercial Real Estate/Property Management/Retail field as an asset
Intermediate level in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Experience using online and digital applications and platforms to streamline and automate event planning processes
SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS:
The successful candidate must be flexible to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays when integral to the successful delivery of events, programming, and arts & culture initiatives.

EDUCATION / DESIGNATIONS / LICENSES:
Post-Secondary/University degree and/or equivalent work experience is required
Education in Marketing, Communications, and/or Events Management is an asset
