TERM COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

The City of Cold Lake is seeking a qualified individual to fill the full-time, 12-month term position of Communications Coordinator.

  • Reporting to the Strategic Initiatives Manager, the Term Communications Coordinator provides direction for all communications and marketing activities for the City of Cold Lake, including the coordination and development of short-term and long-term communications and marketing strategies.
  • This position facilitates media relations and provides expert advice on issues management and communications while promoting a positive image to the community.
  • The Term Communications Coordinator also prepares strategic media releases on confidential matters and labour relations issues, as well as acts as the Public Information Officer during the operations of Emergency Management. This role serves as a font-line contact in resolving communications issues, including direct inquiries about specific departments and facilities, public questions, and all media inquiries while working with multiple systems and all departments in the City of Cold Lake.
  • The Term Communications Coordinator must be able to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines and frequent interruptions, remain open-minded and positive, while having the ability to adapt to changes on the basis of new information or direction.
  • The incumbent must also be trustworthy and be able to deal with confidential and/or sensitive information.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications for this position include a post-secondary degree or diploma in Public Relations or related field; experience with graphic design is a definite asset. The Term Communications Coordinator will have strong time management, computer, communication, organization, and customer service skills with a keen interest in assisting others. Applicants must have the ability to supervise, working independently as well as within a team environment, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of three years' experience in Communications, preferably in a Municipality or other Government setting.
