WHY THIS ROLE:

A member of the marketing and communications team managed by the Director of Marketing and Communications and reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, the Graphic Designer will provide a broad range of communication and marketing services to the internal team and the organization at large.

The designer will apply their graphic, email marketing, and digital skills and experience to many exciting economic development projects and initiatives, all with the mission of supporting the growth and success of the Ottawa business and innovation ecosystem

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Designing print and online collateral for the promotion of programs and services, which includes brochures, fact sheets, postcards, and other promotional materials such as banners, letters, business cards, information packages, social media graphics and assets, welcome kits, flash animations, promotional videos, and more
• Designing presentations, documents, proposals and reports
• Benefiting from the oversight of the Corporate Communications Team Lead, developing email marketing strategies and implement newsletters campaigns which include but are not limited to the IO Spotlight and Business Community Broadcast
• Contributing to the design and development of new email automation campaigns or various programs, audiences, events and initiatives
• Bringing creative ideas and concepts for marketing campaigns to the team with an ability to contribute to the development and execution of related actions
• Contributing to and implementing design and format standards and processes to produce consistent and high-quality results that enhance and promote company reputation and brand
• Contributing to the marketing and communications team more broadly

WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED:

• Post-secondary studies in graphic design, digital/interactive media, digital marketing, communications or related field
• Minimum of three years of professional work experience in graphic design or digital design using the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and Canva
• Minimum two years of professional work experience in email marketing, automation, or newsletter development with expertise in MailChimp or comparable email marketing tools
• Ability to create and manage print-ready files
• Meticulous attention to detail and quality
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; French is considered a strong asset
• Self-starter with the ability to multitask and manage a diverse array of projects and tight deadlines
• Strong collaboration skills
• Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies in graphic design, email marketing, and production
• Familiarity with Dynamics, ClickDimensions, Sharepoint and Microsoft Office 365 considered a significant asset
• Experience with photography, film and video considered a significant asset

Please note that as part of the interview process, selected candidates will be asked to present a portfolio of graphic design and email marketing work that showcases creativity, graphic design skill, and breadth of experience.
