Reporting to the Director, Communications & Stakeholder Engagement, the Interim Manager of Communications & Stakeholder Engagement is a generalist who is knowledgeable and experienced in the counsel and execution of our Department's five core services: Internal Communication & Engagement; Content Strategy & Development; External Reputation Management; Digital Communication Services; and Brand Strategy. In providing these services, the Interim Manager works collaboratively with fellow communications teammates and across client portfolios, proactively seeking opportunities to advance a collaborative culture marked by openly sharing information, fostering innovation, and nimbly responding to changing priorities with grace and good humour.
The Interim Manager is accountable for developing, implementing and evaluating internal and external communications strategies and initiatives for assigned clients, programs and campaigns. As a key member of the Communications team, the Interim Manager, Communications & Stakeholder Engagement, provides counsel to staff and leaders on communication planning and facilitation; supports leaders in advancing employee engagement; identifies and manages sensitive issues; prepares media releases, fact sheets, backgrounders, issues notes and other briefing materials; identifies and coaches media spokespeople
- organizes internal and external events, including news conferences, open houses and town halls; and oversees the development of publications, web resources and internal and external announcements.
The Interim Manager is a senior communication professional experienced in using a coach approach to lead team members and support them in providing timely advice and strategic counsel to their assigned clients while driving to quality outcomes and increased stakeholder engagement in relation to strategic priorities and the overall organizational mandate. The Interim Manager also contributes to the overall dynamic and compassionate leadership of the PHSA Communications Department in partnership with other senior communications staff.
- Contribute to the overall leadership of the communication function of the PHSA as a key member of the communications team, participate in the development and implementation of communications plans, policies, and engagement initiatives.
- As a fully contributing member of a high performance team, support the development and implementation of consistent and high quality communication materials for PHSA programs and services, and for partner health authorizes and organizations, as appropriate.
- Liaise with all levels of PHSA staff and leaders to research and write media releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, Q&A documents, issues notes and other communications materials to support external reputation management.
- Work collaboratively with internal media relations specialists to act as initial contact for media inquiries and provide support as required for media and other events.
- Work collaboratively with internal employee engagement specialists to contribute to centralized, coordinated and proactive editorial planning across all internal and external communication platforms
- Develop, write and edit a broad range of communication materials, including web materials, newsletters, brochures, displays, speeches, memos, social media content, and presentations.
Demonstrated ability to research and write creative and compelling copy for a variety of applications, including electronic newsletters, print publications, and speeches. Demonstrated ability to create and execute strategic communication plans, and to respond to the needs of stakeholders in sensitive situations supported by acute awareness of the impact of actions. Demonstrated knowledge of legislative policy development and processes of various levels of government, ability to meet tight deadlines, work under pressure, and handle highly confidential and sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy. Demonstrated ability to lead and support team members with respect, compassion and humility.
