Tay Township is a mixed rural/urban municipality nestled in cottage country on the shores of Georgian Bay. Our municipal office in Victoria Harbour proudly serves over 10,000 permanent residents and a large seasonal population. We’re currently looking for an energetic, outgoing and highly skilled communications specialist that enjoys the excellent life style offered by our area and whom wants to be part of a motivated team with a desire to transform the way local government connects with the community it serves. As an experienced communications professional that embraces change and innovation, you will provide a full range of comprehensive communications services for the Township including, but not limited to, internal communications, media relations, media releases, event management, website design and content management, video capture and editing, as well as preparation of print and on-line publications and presentations.

Your exemplary knowledge will be utilized to provide advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on communications strategies and tactics for significant projects, initiatives, programs, events or issues. You will also be responsible for the development of communications strategies, policies, procedures and training.

As the sole dedicated communications person in the organization, reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services, you will have a key role in shaping all aspects of the organization’s modern, community service first communications strategy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 You should have 3-5 years of related work experience in communications or public relations with an emphasis on writing and editing, preferably in a public sector environment. Applicants must possess a valid ‘G’ Ontario Drivers licence. Availability to work outside of regular office hours to attend meetings or events or to respond to emergency or urgent operational issues is necessary.

The salary range for this position is $35.55 - $41.84 per hour based on a 35 hour work week. We offer a comprehensive benefit and pension package.
